One could only hope. Lol
I’m bummed. But I’ll keep in mind it was a 7 point game at the 7:15 mark of the fourth quarter. The Huskies righted the ship after the first 10 minutes and played them toe to toe for the second, third and half of the fourth quarter.
I wish Dillon Johnson had been 100%, that Penix didn’t overthrow a wide open Odunze in the second quarter and hadn’t been stepped on and threw an INT on the first play of the second half. I also wish Rosengarten didn’t get called for holding on that fourth quarter pass to Odunze in the red zone, trailing 27-13.
It will be a whole new cast of characters when Michigan shows up in Seattle next October.
I loved their 6’2” 275lb center……reminded me of the old days!!!
In my opinion, that game was won by Michigan’s DL and front 7. Pennix was beaten, bruised and broken. And all that was shown by how off his accuracy was. He wasn’t comfortable in the pocket all night.
JJ McCarthy is dog shit.
I think you’re right about Penix but I don’t think it was completely Pure Michigan that beat him up…I think it was compounded injuries from the whole season. Washington was obviously more banged up than they advertised going into last night’s game.
1 good game out of his last 7 without the sign stealing.
Will forever be remembered by many as a pack of cheaters.
That said they were the best team last night but still a pack of cheatin’ pond skum. Big 10 should have thrown them to the dogs and cut them out of any chance of play offs but typical to big time football these days, ESPN and big bucks $$$ ruled the day. They get good ratings so keep their cheating ass’s on the tube for the $$$$$.
Huskies will definitely have October 5 in Seattle circled on their calendar.
Keep in mind that because of the stupid strategy at the end of the Texas game not only did they almost lose, they also got two starters injured.
Both the MSU game and Purdue games were high yardage games. After that, he got hurt in the Penn State game and they played him conservatively the rest of the year. The goal was to make teams have to stop the run which no one could do sufficiently. Michigan wasn’t built around needing to be an elite passing team.
I think it’s good that the whole sign stealing scandal came out when it did. If it came out during this postseason it truly would have been a permanent question about their run, but they beat every good team on their schedule after it became public and proved they were legitimately the best team this year.
I responded to that “stupid strategy” assertion a while back. It was the same strategy they used to put Oregon away in Las Vegas. It worked perfectly.
Against Texas, the injury to Johnson unexpectedly stopped the clock and there are discussions of a posdible rule change ongoing because of that play.
Had the clock not stopped, the Longhorns should have had the ball at their own 20 with 15 seconds left and no timeouts. The careless running into the receiver penalty gave them an extra 15 yards but that wasn’t coaching.
Really! Because they still won the game despite the stupid strategy, that makes it the right strategy. You are a very smart guy, you can’t really believe that is right. They had a two score lead with like 6 or 7 minutes to go and continued stopping the clock and extending the game. That is the one and only reason that the game got extended and the two starters got injured and they had a chance to lose,
You are almost always going to win a game with a two score lead and the ball and that little time remaining, but the strategy employed by Washington clearly put the game in danger which should have never happened. Putting the game in danger also led to two important injuries, which might have cost them the Michigan game.
We must have watched a different last four minutes.
On the last possession he ran Johnson on third and about four with a little more than a minute left. If he’d picked up the first down like he did against Oregon they could have kneeled out. If he came up short and not been hurt the clock would have continued to run down to less than half a minute. The subsequent punt would have set Texas up deep in their own territory with about 20 seconds left instead of 50.
The play call scenario was considered sound against Oregon, as DJ picked up the first down.
They won 21 straight games and 10 by one score or less against the likes of Oregon, Arizona, Oregon State, Boise State, Utah, USC and Texas. The coaching staff must have some inkling about what it’s doing.
Possession before that they failed to take time off the clock or force Texas to use their timeouts. Had they done that correctly there never would have been that last possession. He was being ridiculed in the sports book by a bunch of guys. I think I understand why he did it,but he was still very wrong. He seems like the type of coach that has sold his team on going for it full bore for 60 minutes, but that does not really fit late game situations and it can bite you if you don’t adjust to the game situations. They still won that game despite allowing Texas a last minute possession they should not have had, but it did come back to bite them because of the two injuries they picked up because they failed to keep the clock running in their next to last possession. I am done with this discussion, time to see if our boys can get that first MAC win.
Did dick just do a mic drop?! Lol
Yep. Got the last word.
I actually just wanted to watch the basketball game. I also wanted to make sure now that I clarified something. I think Washington‘s Coach has done a phenomenal job. All coaches make mistakes sometimes. He ought to review his late game philosophies for next year. And Nescadad, I have a lot of respect for you personally.
Thanks. Likewise.
