Mildly interested in this Camelia Bowl, to see how MAC stands up against Sun Belt, the self-annointed ‘best’ G5 league. Buffalo up on Ga. Southern 14-6 before half.

Buffalo knows the QB’s tendencies since he played there. I predict they win.

Interesting trivia mentioned that Vantrease is the only guy in history to play in the same bowl for two different teams AND play in that bowl against his old team. A bar bet winner in years to come!

Buffalo wins.

MAC guaranteed at least 3-3. Can finish 4-2 if Ohio can take care of business in Tucson. Everything has been close.

Big INT late by Buffalo that allowed a FG to go up 23-14…Georgia Southern scores a late 4Q TD, and Buffalo runs out the clock to make the final 23-21. Nice win by Buffalo and MAC is exceeding my expectations going into the bowl match ups.

That kid Vantrese is in my opinion an NFL prospect. Seems to be a quality late round find. Likely not getting drafted but I bet he lands in a camp.

Two lengthily reviews in the first quarter in the ECU - CCU game and one to start the second quarter. Also had about a five minute injury delay in the first because of a late hit out of bounds.

The price of televised games is extended time from kick off to final gun. It’s just not official reviews and injury timeouts. It’s this:

Televised college football games require four media timeouts each quarter, lasting approximately three minutes each, plus additional breaks after the first and third quarters (three-and-a-half minutes each), add up to nearly an hour of real time. And that’s not including the 20-minute break at halftime.

Yeah TV games take forever…it’s even worse when you are attending (especially in cold weather), and sit there for those extended stoppages of play.

East Carolina up 53-29 over Coastal Carolina w a couple minutes left…CCU was winner of Sunbelt East division. With the loss the Belt finishes 3-4 in bowl games this season.

Some of our Sun Belt-loving self-loathing MAC fans aren’t going to be happy about the MAC having a better bowl season than the Sun Belt.

Kind of a weird year. In some years when we’ve been much better in the regular season, the Belt has owned us in the bowls. This year they were higher profile during the season - the Stun Belt - but the MAC has over-performed in bowls. That’s why we love this game!

Yes, an OU win will put the MAC at 4-2 for bowls this season. That would insure the MAC has a better record than MWC, C-USA and the Sunbelt. If OU loses, MAC still ties the first two and edges out the Belt.

With so many players opting out of bowl games, I realize that the outcomes mean less than ever, but you still see many media references to how the conferences did in bowl games, so I still think it’s a big plus for the MAC to have a respectable outcome.

And yes, having a better record than the Sunbelt is noteworthy after all the “love” that conference has got as supposedly emerging as the best G5 football conference.

I am rooting for the conference to finish 3-3.

Last night I saw the conference bowl standings and we were second.

That would satisfy both your hatred of Ohio and your love of mediocrity :joy: The Sackman daily double.

Eh, the former of course. The latter? I’m just not going to get worried or mad about us not going 10-2 every year. College football in 2022 just isn’t going to permit that from happening and it sure as heck isn’t going to allow that to sustain if it does. I’m not going to shit on those who believe we’re better than what we currently are but I think you also have to be a realist, too. If COVID taught us anything universally it is that you should cherish college football (wins AND losses) so I will.

I guess what I’m saying is Fuck OU. This was a total fluke season and if you don’t agree then congrats on just starting to watching college football. And also now that the holidays are over, fire the OC.

Lonnie Phelps playing today for Kansas in the Liberty Bowl. He made Phil Steele’s Second Team All Big 12. Has one more year of eligibility left.

I wonder if teams could get an insurance policy on all players that would pay them something if they got hurt. Probably not enough to cover the big boys, but it might be a reason for people to not opt out.
