Thanks for confirming, Dick. When I pulled in at 2:30pm, I looked around and thought, “Oh this is gonna be bad in another hour.” I hope they get this rectified for February 22nd because the crowd was a lot of fun yesterday.
Smart move! If the weather for the game on the 22nd is in the 50’s, I may do the same thing you did. A walk across campus, post game, and then dinner Uptown is always the right choice!
Love the smashing of the cinder block.

Had fun at the game. Crowd was great.
As far as the game itself I left feeling conflicted. It felt like there were about five moments where could blow the game wide open and we didn’t and that allowed OU to hang in and that’s why we got the result we did. For whatever reason this team seems to have trouble playing with a lead. But, in our defense, the foul trouble, especially in the second half, made things really choppy. We were playing without Suder and Elmer for long stretches. Our two best defenders and in Suder’s case, our best playmaker. We got really stagnant on offense and I do think a lot of that was not having Suder out there. The ball just moves when he’s on the court. Still, we beat OU (granted when they’re short handed) and we’re 8-1 in the MAC
Also where’s that putz who keeps saying we’re not deep? We don’t win this game without our bench. Ipsaro saved our asses and Potter and Skaljac both made huge buckets.
Oh and Fuck Jeff Boals. Guys a douche.
Absolutely, the game was fun, like the good old days!
Oh and a thought on the officiating. I know Boals was bitching about the last play, but when three of our key guys foul out and fourth almost did I have a hard time hearing the opposition complain about the refs.
And yes OU did miss some open looks, but I would counter that so did we. Brant Byers alone missed two bare looks that he hasn’t missed all season.
Grinding lacrosse recruiting sites and being wrong.
I assume that even 28-6 wouldn’t get us an NCAA at large bid, but how many wins would it take for us to make the NIT?
I know we all have our favorite players that we followed in years past. One day, the current team will take their places among those whose names bring back great memories. As one who has been attending games in Oxford for over sixty years, I have sadly forgotten more players names than those I can remember, but the mention of their names tweaks my old brain cells just enough to evoke the echoing sounds of dribbles on the Withrow Court floor and the images of packed seats. For each of you, I want to share the names that were on the RSVP list of past men’s players who I believe were there at the game Saturday (with apologies to the women…I neglected to grab a picture of their list).

I hope there are some names on this list that will bring a smile to your face like it does mine.
We would need to win the MAC regular season AND have an average of 125 or better across the BPI, KPI, NET, KenPom, SOR, Torvik and WAB rankings.
Our current rankings:
BPI - 152
KPI - 133
NET - 154
KenPom - 168
SOR - 87
Torvik -169
WAB - 85
Average - 135.42
Guess that’ll be great for Akron to get that auto selection to the NIT when we beat them in Cleveland.
Thanks for the roster, Bake! Now, if someone could match the names with the group photo…
Rick Goins…Backspin and bank.
It will be interesting to see if our game for Feb 23 gets moved to Feb 22 for tv. There are 3 tv games that weekend out of the six and two are friday on cbs sports 6 and 8 and one is saturday on espnu at 6. Supposed to be a 21 day pick but I havent seen it announced yet
I wonder if we have the right to turn it down. There is a lot of work and effort put into the Love, honor, care day. I think we would be glad to move games for anything other than yesterdays game or the one on the 22.
Glad to hear Wren was there. He had kind of fallen into a black hole in online searches.
Potter did have some big shots, but for those not at the game, he also missed big stretches. He made a 3 early in the 2nd, and immediately grabbed his back and had some sort of contraption around him after. They put him in the game with about 7 minutes left, he made another 3 and was taken out right after again. Didn’t see the court again until one of the players fouled out with about a minute left, and stayed in, but looked like he was toughing it out and not at full strength for that time.
Yeah, the back thing was concerning especially since it’s what kept him out for the start of the season. I actually think it happened in the first half after he hit a three. Hopefully it doesn’t linger. And as well as he played not dropping to protect the rim on the last play nearly cost us the game.
It will never stop being odd to me that Bart Torvik, my assigned firm mentor at my first job out of law school, is now an official NIT selection component.
Did he win the office March Madness pool?
I’m hoping he did.
