It’s the new age of NIL-era college sports. Noreen was brought in to win. He’s doing what he thinks is best to get this team to win.

I hate part of it but I definitely don’t fault him for doing what he was hired to do. And he’s doing it with dignity, which we’re respecting.

I agree with you. It’s not a halfway house. Head coach has a reputation just like anyone else. I don’t blame him at all but he has to win some games next year. There’s the rub.

The Indy Fuel play the Walleye twice, hopefully we get to see Cox, Moulton and Ambrosio in the lineups against each other!

Indy also plays the Cyclones this weekend on Saturday in cincy

Idk if I’d agree that our results tell the whole story of who can and can’t play in the NCHC…we’ve seen a few players leave Miami and excel in the conference on other teams.

Look at Drazner, the leading defenseman scorer on the Penrose Cup winning team a year after being healthy scratched for the one conference win Miami had in a 1-21-2 season. And I’m sure some of the guys transferring out this year will have a similar story after finding a school that suits them better (even if on our team they seemed irrelevant).

I just feel like a problem we’ve had is getting players to play to their full potential/ability while they’re playing here as a Redhawk. Hopefully Noreen can pull it out of the new guys coming in since there’s a lot of talent there.

I agree there were some talented players but not nearly enough to compete in the NCHC. A lot of NAHL recruits under Bergeron and none of those players overachieved significantly. Bottom line our talent level has not been up to par last few years. Noreen is elevating the recruiting, we will see if the development and results also improve.

Yeah it’s a good sign pretty much all of our incoming class is coming from the USHL or a Canadian league. I’m sure this is part of the reason Noreen was the pick for the job with all his connections to the USHL giving him huge recruiting benefits.

Looking at some of the players he’s developed at the Storm and how they turned out after leaving him I want to trust in his ability to develop players…we just need the players themselves to buy in which I’d hope would happen with a whole roster recruited by this staff.

If this 25-26 team is firing on all cylinders we can compete in this conference. Might be a learning curve with how young we’ll be but just imagine how we’ll look once they get acclimated!

Just prove you can win a game. Then two. Then four, and so forth. It’s that rudimentary IMO at this point. And that’s ok. But still, one then two then four then eight. Anything beyond is a real team.

Reminds me of this quote from the press conference:

It’s really not rocket science, we just gotta make it actually happen

Easier said that done. Especially in the NIL era.

One of the best save percentages in the USHL. Huge pick-up.

Thanks for posting. I knew he went somewhere south but couldn’t find anything official.

They play Savannah later this month, maybe we’ll see Hutchison vs Sullivan :eyes:

I’m excited to see someone break their long losing streak; hopefully it happens this week!

The new age of college sports def cuts both ways. Athletes are more freely able to leave programs and move on if they desire and just the same the programs are cutting players and bringing in who they want if expectations aren’t met.

More like pro sports which I don’t like but I guess as they say it is what it is.

I guess I just don’t understand how we will be able to get the caliber of recruits we need to be able to compete effectively in the NCHC. I mean, why would a top flight recruit come here when he could play for any number of competitive NCHC programs?

Maybe the answer lies in getting the most playing time. Why did Vandy suddenly get good in football? New coach and one who showed players they could start for an SEC school and start winning. Diego P was a talented but low level D1 QB who got a chance to shine. Kid beat Alabama. Assuming the new coach can coach at this level (he should be fine) and recruit well (again showing some talent already) we will win again starting next year. But, he’s got to get the wins or else it’s moot.
