Northwestern tickets

Force Majeure should not apply. Thats for like natural disaster and war. Northwestern didn’t have to tear down their new stadium right now or could have had a better plan or could have played at NIU or Oxford or other places. This is all on them.

What about Modus Polens or Modus Tolens.

That’s what I said, except that I used the example of a meteor hitting the stadium, which, I guess, could be considered a natural disaster. I also posted that I didn’t think there was any way that FM could be used to avoid liability for this breach. Further, that NW was “SOL”. Just to be clear.

Now you’re reminding me how much I loved the discrete math class

Not a law-talkin’ guy, here, but Miami could say “Hey, this kinda f*cked over our fan base in one of our largest alumni centers, so NW, what can you do to make this better?”

  1. Money
    -or-
  2. Schedule a home & home series for Miami and NW in the next 3-5 years.

I like option 2 better.

I didn’t say “don’t bitch.” Just said that before we bitch too much, let’s make sure we sell the entire allotment quickly and then see if we are able to request additional seats in our allotment. I agree with your general premise that NW is doing us dirty, but let’s make sure we have all the facts before going scorched earth.

As for ticket prices, I learned in my Econ 201 class at Miami that lowering supply causes prices to go up. No problem with NW raising prices in this situation. Capitalism isn’t always perfect, but it’s far and away the best option. Also, if NW sells the tickets too cheap, they will just get bought up by brokers and end up on the secondary market anyways.

I understand the law of supply and demand. But I don’t consider doubling prices for an inferior product as capitalism. As far as I’m concerned, it’s like selling a liter of water for $15 in the aftermath of a hurricane. That, in the law, is called gouging. That is what this is as far as I am concerned. Others may see it differently.

I think this is totally right. I was planning on going until I found out about how ridiculous the stadium set up was

I do go to road games. I went to the Cure Bowl- Frisco Classic and I have tickets for the ND game

But playing in a made up practice field doesnt seem like a game I need to spend over $1,000 to attend (with flights- tickets- hotel)

Did they not create this mess by deciding to rebuild?

I decided not to go when I heard it was a high school stadium and we would have very few seats so I did not plan to be off from work. Such a mess. Thank you for being ill prepared northwestern. (Note the disrespect for nw with the little “n.”) I hope we run the score up and take to prisoners on that directional school.

Absolutely. The new stadium was all but a done deal several years ago. Then the township objected to the rebuild b/c of traffic, noise, and general mess involved with a major construction project in the middle of the U and residential area. But with $800M in the pot to build a new facility, it was going to get done eventually. But NW delayed and procrastinated until literally the last weeks to get their temporary “stadium” ready for the season (is it ready yet?). They also waited to make arrangements to play in other venues against the bigger BIG10 opponents until just the last month or two.
This was all foreseeable by the leaders of the school several years ago when the big money was pledged but they f’ed it up–big time. And now we and several other opponents will play in a substandard field for a very limited number of premium priced tickets.

Count me as one other Miami fan who was going to go, but when June rolled around and Northwestern still had their head up their ass not knowing yet where the game was going to be played I had to tap out.

That was my decision, too. And I went to Hard Rock, UMass, Ohio, the MACC, and the Curicane last season. I’ve got my kid’s wedding in Hershey in late September this season and all the costs that implies. So far, I’m planning to be at Parents Weekend vs Ohio. After that, we’ll see.

In addition to going to NW for reasons I have stated ad nauseam, I am also going to ND. And living in the Detroit area, my “home” game is EMU and BG and Toledo are nearly the same. Plus a game or two in Oxford, I will see more games this year than I have in a while. Probably a bowl game, or two (CFP) and it will be a great year.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know or have you heard what other visiting fan bases (i.e., Duke, Wisconsin, and Indiana) are thinking about NU’s incompetence and ineptitude?

Damn good question Bash. I was wondering the same thing. Guess we could find their version of MHT and find out. As I have nothing better to do, I may give it a try. If successful, I will report what is being said.

People living along I-90 in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana get five games within relatively easy distance this season. Spirit has very cheap fares from MYR to DTW so I might make it to the game at Toledo and/or the MACC. No cheap fares for the BG game. It’s Thanksgiving Weekend.

Got mine after the email went out. Me + 2 are in N-1, row 20. Bummed I didn’t look at the individual seats and went for “best available.” Thought we had aisle seats, but looks like we are on the end that’s not the aisle.

I wasn’t missing this one, I would have found a way! My dad’s an NU alum, and I’m sure he’d have some choice words for his alma mater over all of this if he was still with us. This is year 14ish of annual Miami “big game” trips with my best friend and well, we have yet to see a victory. This year is gonna be the one though!

I check the Duke board every few days. The praise “glorified high school stadium” appear there just as on our own.

Reports now saying that the stadium will only be around 12K.
