I wonder about the women athletes and to use it to become an influencer. I’m guessing that I might be the only one on this board that got sucked into BamaRush on TikTok. Ohio’s Miss Teen USA blew up and clearly has sponsorship deals now.
I can see how an athlete could use being a college athlete to a influencer career, which would be beyond local Oxford businesses.
The next phase is coming from California: Profit Sharing
Miami University Athletics and the Red Brick Legacy have announced a partnership, making Red Brick Legacy the official Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) Collective of Miami Athletics and streamlining the process to make it easier for fans to support Miami student-athletes.
There. Give.

Didn’t know where to put this but why don’t we do this with Chuck Martin vests
Anyone have an idea of what the Collective’s numbers look like?
It was reported that someone donated 2.5 million.
Recently? That’s awesome
Dick that would be great news- but I hadnt seen that- where was it reported? I remember hearing on some conference call about $250k anonymous
Yep. That $250k donation was announced on March 12 along with the announcement that the fund is now a 501 (c) 3.
Probably that is what I heard and I misremembered. Sorry. Big difference.
I cant imagine making a significant donation, just for it to be disbursed to current athletes who might be playing in the B10 or elsewhere one year later. Maybe I’m just cheap. Does RedBrick Legacy have an NIL endowment you can earmark your donation for, or is it just being dished out as fast as it’s collected? Maybe that long term idea doesn’t make much sense in the current rapidly changing landscape of college athletics.
The Red Brick Legacy website says it is NOT a 501(c) (3).
Perhaps it has not been updated but I have a hard time seeing how paying college athletes to play a sport is a charitable activity that would qualify under the Internal Revenue Code.
Perhaps RBL has been structured such that the athletes are being paid for participating in promoting charitable causes, community actvities etc.
I know some NIL collectives have been structured this way (e.g Texas Tech, Indiana) and gotten 501(c)(3) status but you have to wonder whether these will withstand scrutiny if audited.
The whole NIL collective scheme smells to high heaven in the first place.
Attempting to say it is formed for charitable goals and the public good rather than to provide a personal benefit to a few is a bridge too far in my opinion.
We all need own a set of Chuck sweatervests and khakis. Like a HawkTawk gang uniform. Suit up, strut around, and bully our Mac rivals. Make this happen, NIL Collective.
Would we be the Bloods or the Crips of the MAC?
Martin’s Marauders
Any type of Red Brick Legacy merch would be awesome if it has the Miami logo on it
They really need to ramp it up, there are so many things people would buy, even if they aren’t a huge sports fan
They announced 501 (c) 3 status has been approved on the Match 12 zoom call.
Uh, I’m guessing a number of posters here already have a closet full of sweater vests and khakis.
