BTB30: where did you pick up that McBride is not expected to play?
I saw something the other day now I am wondering if it was speculative based on him missing practice.
I predicted he would stay around Pittsburgh, and even suggested he might end up at this school. Ryan O’Hair to Robert Morris. I think he will do well there.

One or two kids who have a noteworthy game on national TV and one or two kids who didn’t play, don’t expect to play snd just wanted the trip to the Bahamas.

When are additions to Miami expected? Spring?
The guys that are in the portal now would ideally like to find a home before the start of next semester. That way they can go through spring ball. So, depending on how active we’re being, I think we’ll see a few additions over the holidays. Coaches will likely be hosting transfers on visits over the next few weeks.
There will likely be more players entering the portal after spring ball wraps up. So good chance we’ll see action again in the spring/early summer.

I believe recruiting signing period is December 21. Transfers in the portal can commit anytime, I think.

I would also say this regarding adding players: last year we were in a much different position. Between the departures of Pace, Phelps, and Butler to the portal, and the graduation of guys like Robinson,Weatherford, Kimpler, Brown, and Boswell, this defense was gutted. The silver lining was that it made Miami attractive for guys in the portal who were looking for playing time. The coaches did a good job filling those holes by adding a number of guys from the portal.
If you look at the 2-deep for the bowl game tomorrow, there is a lot of good talent on this defense that will be returning next season (hopefully). Which means it’s going to be a lot harder for a transfer to come in and steal a starting position. Maybe a DB or LB to add depth or fill McWood’s spot. Otherwise, I’m not sure we’ll see the numbers like we did last off season.
I think offensively, specifically at WR, OL is where we could see more action. We need more playmakers on the outside. The kid from Notre Dame is a good start.

Ertl is one of my unsung heroes of this team. Somewhat undersized DT who does an outstanding job every game. Glad he is returning. I know we RS Malachi Clark this year but we need to add another true DT or two.

Great, we got Schaeffer’s replacement! And per UK’s roster, he is now 6’6" 304. Redshirt in 2020. Played in 13 games 2021. Played in 12 this year but didn’t start any. Per his UK bio and UK 2022 stat sheet. Per his UK bio:
“Picked Kentucky over Auburn, Georgia, Florida State, Louisville and others”
#17 OT in the country year he came out. I say WELCOME ABOARD!

I think the only four star we ever recruited was Kendrell McFadden who mysteriously disappeared from the face of college football after de-committing from WVU and before ever arriving on campus in Oxford. Nice to see a four star actually commit!
