Miamians on the PGA Americas Tour

Both Patrick Flavin & Charlie Nikitas made the cut at the 2nd PGA Americas tour event in Brazil. That’s two finishes in the money in a row for both of them! Patrick finished T20 at 10-under for the four rounds, and Charlie finished T53 at 6-under. Sadly, Charlie was in the top 15 after 3 rounds at -10, but struggled during the final round. Patrick, on the other hand, went -3 on his last 3 holes of the 2nd round just to make the cut, and then played well on the weekend to finish Top 20. Another successful tournament for the RedHawks!

Congrats to Charlie Nikitas for finishing in the Top 10 (T9) at this past week’s KIA Open in Quito, Ecuador. He shot a 64 (-8) in the final round to move up 34 spots. Very nice outing!! Both Charlie & Patrick Flavin are in this week’s Diners Club Pero Open in Lima.

Man, that’s an easy drive up I75 to watch them play. Anyone else going?

I once worked at a company who had Diners Club as our company card which was equal parts ridiculous and awesome. Every time I showed that card, I felt like Telly Savalas. They should just hire The Rock to be the new Telly. He’s basically the same concept.with more scale. Anyhow, good luck to the guys. I’ll be pulling for them because…”Who loves ya baby!!!”

Congratulations to Danny Fisher, who qualified last week to play in the North American swing of PGA Tour Americas! He will join (I believe) fellow Miamians Patrick Flavin & Charlie Nikitas on that tour, which starts back up with the Explore NB Open in Fredricton, New Brunswick on July 3rd.

Here’s hoping they play some Monday qualifiers for the big tour and do well in a few. I used to think Korn Ferry was the way but anymore it feels like a dead end path when the winners go -24 every event and those who make the cut for the weekend get like 2k. Too hard and not profitable. But, these other tours like you mention can actually provide a viable living and a way to major golf. Patrick won The Temecula Open and got 30k for his win. I’m not certain Korn Ferry even pays that much for a top 10 finish (I’ll have to look). Either way, those guys are now all in the top 1,000 players in the world. Pretty great!

Edit: I looked and I was right. The guy who finished 7th at last weeks Korn Ferry event got 29k and change. Also, he was -17! Stupid hard tour.
