Miami vs Colorado State in the Arizona Bowl

Again a great win and all out effort by our seniors - Ty Wise definitely should get drafted- and KD was lights out! The leadership of Brett and Salopek was outstanding . The win was also especially impressive given that we played a number of young players including Trick, Coleman , Martin , Pons , Lukusa ,Hammonds and others on D and we were without Suttle Blakey and Strader. On O obviously we we did not have Virgil, Tracey or Jados and Mozee for part of the game but Weaver, Terrill, Ison, Brunson ,Ringer and Williams among others stepped up . I am curious what happened to Andre Johnson as I thought CM said all healthy seniors would play. He was not listed on the roster for the game - did he leave the team before the game and did he have any more eligibility ? I am also curious if Dylan Downing was with the the team in AZ- I do not believe he has anymore eligibility . Lets go for 10 plus wins in 2025!

Andre Johnson wasnt even on the bowl game roster - it was odd to me since I thought he would have a role

I just watched the game. I spotted myself in the crowd following the 4th down stop in the 2nd quarter. @yanksalex, @JiveHawk, and @Spanks004 were also shown in that panning shot of the crowd. As a result, that automatically makes it the coolest college football broadcast of the season. Sorry, NBC. Sorry, ESPN. You had your chances.

You could also hear the “Thank you Sally” chant with 1:13 remaining in the game. The salutes for the other players didn’t get picked up on the game’s audio.

I did find it funny that at one point Snoop said “Love is love,” which was interesting since Thom Brennaman was sitting directly to his left at that moment.

And yes, Brennaman initially called Weeb Ewbank by the name “Web” and he definitely said “Supper Bowl.”

Chuck, I notified the Desert Museum. They confirm their bottled water is cold and ready for you.

I started the " Thank you Sally chant ’ right after " Tank you Brett " - I hope these guys return the program some day as coaches

The Desert Museum also had several public drinking fountains placed throughout the facility.

Watched with friends in a Sports Bar in Orlando + recorded the game. Great job by coaches and players.

In keeping with the museum theme, they don’t work.

One other thing: not having it on ESPN helped the broadcast. The broadcast made it seem like an important game. They actually talked about the game during the game (shocking, I know) instead of spending 3 hours discussing the CFP. At halftime they went down to the field for analysis and actually showed part of the halftime performances, instead of just going back to the studio to hear Trevor Matich blabber on some more about the CFP. And the CW actually showed the trophy presentation, rather than immediately cutting to the next generic bowl game.

It’s why I prefer MACtion games on CBS Sports, because that network also focuses on that specific game, as opposed to ESPN using Tuesdays and Wednesdays to promote Saturday’s action. The problem is, since ESPN gets first choice of MACtion games each week, you don’t want to be on CBS Sports because that means you’re probably heading for a 4-8 record.

I could watch the video of Snoop telling Kevin Davis he went “97 yards to the liquor store” on repeat for the rest of my life.

Hey, at least he didn’t drop any offensive slurs on air. That’s a win for him.

I’m assuming someone was in his ear during every break yelling “hot mic Thom hot mic!”

I think this would rank this as one of our top 5 bowl games of all time. Top 4 are obviously the 3 Tangerine Bowl wins (over Florida , Georgia, and South Carolina), and the GMAC Bowl in 2003 w Big Ben over Louisville, and then the Arizona Bowl #5? (Runner up for #6 would likely be the 1948 Sun Bowl win over Texas Tech as it was our first major bowl victory).

The DDN loves to be fed press releases.OSU and Dayton apparently are doing so. Miami, not?

Kasey Turman (“Miami Student” Editor) contributed a short API (AP-assisted) piece.

Hamilton and Butler County: Not on their main Sports link. You have to go to Menu and click Miami RedHawks to find it.

Should be a local sports headline IMO

That was my thought. A: Has CSU ever been “big time”?, and B: is the Pac12 still “big time”?

They struggled mightily as a low achieving G5 team for decades. They had three terrible seasons in the early 70s under Miami Cradle member Jerry Wampler and two or three more under Earl Bruce in the late 80s and early 90s.

Their coaching legend was Sonny Lubick who turned them Into a high-performing mid-major between 1993-2003. The beat #4 Arizona in Tucson one season and won a bowl against Michigan in another. They were making regular appearances in bowls. But that was the peak of their football prominence.

CSU is trying to emerge from a couple decades of mediocrity now under Jay Norvell.

The writer thinks they want to be big time, which seems like a fair assessment to me?
