I just watched Coach Martins post game presser and he spells it out well. There are very sound and logical reasons for what he is doing and he has a good plan. Please take the time to watch.
Chuck was also the Offensive coordinator on a Notre Dame team that played in the National Championship game and won a couple of Division 2 national championships coaching the way he is now and running the offense.
Turn on South Dakota versus Iowa state. Itâs on now. There is no flinch in South Dakota. They may lose, this but itâs been fun to watch. Unheralded dudes playing yo win. My belief is, play loose and win, or lose wildly trying, but either way more fun than playing trying to crap out a diamond.
Edit: this is long in the past. Sure why itâs playing now. Oh well. I know who won!
There is simply no defending the offensive game plan against Wisconsin or Chuckâs approach to OOC games. Itâs sad that a Miami homer like you wonât allow yourself to wish for more. As Blues has asked multiple times, why canât we compete for MAC championships AND try to win OOC road games at the same time? Why are they mutually exclusive?
Look, it means a lot more to me than it does to you. In the last two weeks I drove more than 2,000 miles and watched every play of both games. You are showing a basic lack of understanding of the game. Because of the NIL portal situation we are in a year where we are one of the least experienced teams in the country and are forced by economics to play 2 big money payout games every year. We did win 2 P4 games in the previous 3 years.
The real job for Chuck and his staff is to bring this team along and finish the season strong and get to a Bowl game and head into next year with an experienced team. There is a lot of untapped potential on our roster who simply are getting introduced to division 1 football right now.It is a process, as a former coach I love the process and seeing the guys grow and progress and Chuck and his staff know how to do it.
I respect your right to express your opinions but I donât really respect your opinions. You want what you want, but are actually pretty clueless about what it takes to succeed at this level. Coach Martin is a great coach, you are a mediocre fan.
In addition to the Miami Idiot Fan Club I will also start the Mediocre Miami Fan Society.
On a separate note:
âBecause of the NIL portal situation we are in a year where we are one of the least experienced teams in the countryâŚ.â
Oregon only has 5 returning starters. CBS did a list. Not that the point doesnât have some validity, and we certainly will never be mistaken for a Power 4 team, but there are teams with little in the way of starters who are doing well so far.
P4 teams replace lost staters with guys who have 30 or 40 starts in D1, like the 4 guys we lost to the portal who are earning 2.5 million this year. We replace them with young guys getting their first chance, some of whom we recruited, some of whom were guys P4 recruited who were not getting much of a chance to get on the field. Then we play the two money games against the big money teams who just reloaded. NIU is in the same boat as we are, they have only 1 returning starter on offense. Last year we had a ton of experience but were slowed down offensively at the start for a good reason. Gabbert got cleared for contact football 3 days before out first game. Of course we started out with 3 P4 teams. It took Brett about a month to get his game back then we became the team we hoped to be. Expectations are unreasonable for where this team is at. We have great kids and outstanding coaches so hope for a good season should still be there. Max has said he doesnât care about that, I know that you do. Donât group yourself with Max. His season is basically over.
@DICK just want to say I appreciate your thoughts and well-reasoned takes. I might get frustrated and disagree from time to time with how you see things re: Chuck Martin and FB, but itâs nice to read the balance you provide.
We do have at least one anomaly this year in G5 and they are cashing in big time. Somehow USF managed to field a roster this season with 33 Seniors. That is extremely rare for a G5 program now. 70% of our guys are true Freshmen or Sophomores and Redshirt Frosh and Sophs.
By mere fact of any of us being on a Miami sports message board, Iâd say weâre all very passionate about Miami athletics. Itâs a high bar to clear to come here and be involved.
Nobody is happy about football being 0-2. But its not worth sniping at each other because of it.
@The_Sackman, can you get in here and redirect our collective attention to the Running Rebels and MAC schedule ahead?
