I would just say that there a lot of interesting and well thought out comments. For the most part I would just say that I stand by my comments and think they are right. To say Chuck doesn’t try to win these games is simply not right. He does believe you have to establish the run to win and I do to. At this point we are not yet good enough to do that. but we are working on it and at some point we should be a lot better and will start winning. It is a process and it takes time. With the defense and special teams we have plenty of experienced players and Wisconsin’s offense is not as talented as their defense. I think we have talented players at all our offensive skills players but the O-line showed me nothing in this game. Their improvement will be the key to the season. That is the one position group where experience and understanding and executing together are even more important that raw talent and it takes time.
“ I’m positive future recruits and parents are aware of what is and isn’t realistic for their football prospects”
As a parent of sons who played both D1 (MAC) and D3 football as QBs, I will offer the following: 95% of D1 players believe they are going to the NFL and even their parents believe at minimum (particularly at the G5 level ) that their kid should be playing P4.
Now at the D3 level, it’s more realistic, most kids are there because they love the game and want to earn a degree, but probably 10-20% of the starters still think they’re going to the NFL and could care less about school. And I’m talking mediocre programs, not Mt. Union or North Central.
Very few recruits and their parents have a realistic view of their chances.
I honestly thought that comment had to be sarcastic. College athletes and parents are perhaps the least realistic about potential. I understand it must be tough (you obviously know from personal experience). Most players at Miami have been the best athlete on every team in pretty much every sport growing up. College is truly the great filter where the top 1% of athletes learn they aren’t in the top 0.1%.
Its tough for both players and parents to realize for the first time they aren’t the best player on the field suddenly. I understand why many struggle with it.
We’re right next to Ohio state who is one in the country. Things are suddenly looking up!
The only time I think I could ever describe Miami’s offense as “explosive” in my 13 years of being a fan was 2023 before Brett got hurt. Besides that, even the word “methodical” is usually kind.
So you’re going to penalize Travis because Chuck is not up to your expectations? You do realize that you can help the basketball team directly, right?
Except for the occasional big hitter to Larvadain, we weren’t even really explosive that season.
Probably the only time I’ve ever felt that we had a legitimately good offense was the last 4 games of 2021 when Gabbert finally came back healthy and had Sorenson, Hippenhammer, Walker, and pre-injury Coldiron to throw to. We averaged 40 ppg, never went below 34, and Gabbert averaged 369 passing yards. In true Chuck fashion, we managed to lose two of those games by a combined 3 points, which cost us a title game spot.
You can direct money to certain programs. Talk to Kyle Decker who heads RedBrick Legacy. So if you want to direct money to just MBB you can.
I think you meant this for Max, not me. He’s the one who said he wouldn’t donate as long as chuck is around.
Got back at midnight last night from our extended football weekend in Wisconsin. Door County was spectacular all weekend! Got a tour of Lambeau Field in Green Bay on the way up and were in the south end zone while they were setting up for Micah Parsons’ first interview.
The talk around Madison is that the win over Miami didn’t fill the Badger faithful with Fickell optimism. Consensus seems to be they want former UW Whitewater HC Lance Leipold to be the next UW HC.
See you in Jersey Saturday afternoon!
I’m glad the parents of the OL at least showed some fight. Maybe it will translate to their kids this week.
Looks like a bunch of Miami fans bitching at one another!
To stand or not. All stadiums, every game. I personally like the do not stand unless big down coming up. Now that I have reached a more mature age I find standing more difficult.
Our son is a Duke grad, therefore I have attended many games in Cameron. Standing is necessary if you sit in the downstairs student section. The bleachers pretty much make it impossible to sit.
Just like on MHT.com!
Miami fans complaining over Miami fans standing.
This sounds like Millett circa 2004.
No, Miami ushers bitching at Miami fans, the 2000 that are there about sitting in the wrong place when 7000 seats are open!!
I feel like you and I got yelled at by fellow Miami fans at Northwestern in 2003 as well.
You can’t see your son play while sitting? Somebody dox those parents who wouldn’t sit down.
I got up out of my lazy boy and stood in front of the TV whenever there was a crucial down & play.
