I cannot blame Dequan at all today. Couldn’t establish the run, set him up poorly and any time he had a chance to throw he was under crazy pressure
On the plus side no obvious injuries.

This is Chuck Martin football!!!
I guess all the rust on Finn was to be expected, onto the next one
Don’t necessarily expect him to win a game like this but at least to make it competitive. Guessing that teams that have less than 125 yds total offense under good playing conditions probably lose 99% of the time
Now 2-10. Wins were FCS Presbyterian in 2015 and Ball State in 2020. So much for a win every fifth opener
It’s one thing to get beaten by a good team but UW looked very mid even without their QB injury. Rutgers is beatable and probably not as deep in the trenches but I’m still not optimistic.
I’m not too worried about the OL, at least not yet. I think the OL has some talented individuals, but they’ve never played together as a unit until tonight. In time they will gel….. knock on wood
Soooo book your tickets for Detroit?
UC QB Sorsby only threw for 69 yards. UC lost at home.
But he did have almost 100 yds rushing and the offense did have over 270 yds in total yards and they did play a “home game “ but in KC with around 70% of the fans being from Nebraska
I’m not like the world’s biggest fan of this result, but I’m also not exactly upset about it. It’s year 12 of the Chuck Martin experience. We know exactly what we’re getting in a buy game.
My expectations were pretty low for this one. Even though Wisconsin will struggle to be bowl eligible, especially for their schedule, they’re bigger and more experienced up front, especially their defensive line. Paired up against an offensive line that hadn’t played together and didn’t have much playing time at their previous schools, I figured we’d have trouble moving the ball. Add in that Wisconsin brought back their entire back end and we were playing with basically a brand new receiving corps and I thought covering the spread would be a challenge.
So big defensive line and an experienced back end against a brand new offense and why is anyone surprised that we couldn’t move the ball? You can call any play you want but if 3 defensive guys are waiting for the QB in the backfield unblocked, to make a decision, not much can happen.
Defensively, I expected more because we had more back and we got a really strong performance, stronger than I anticipated. We held up against the run better than expected. The back end was strong against the pass. The only thing that needs to improve is tackling in the open field by our corners. The defense looked good. Also, special teams looked good as well, minus the 1 penalty.
Next week will probably be more of the same with probably a little improvement offensively. The UNLV game is an early marker for the season. A week off, back at home, let’s see where we’re at then.
Neutral site, arrowhead
O line play very bad just like NW last year- Finn had little or no time to pass - play calling typical Martin - no creativity- roll Finn out and move the pocket- more quick hitters- slants and curl patterns. At least try running outside on occassion. D overall not bad esp since we give up so much room on quick outs and therfore also give up TOP. This team has some talent - will our coaches be able to use it?
They should walk home.
Siri, define complacency.
Chuck’s fbs ooc record is appalling.
I think complacent is accurate.
Whether it’s 11 new starters or Chuck living in his fears, given that OU put up 31 against Rutgers I would hope we at least find the endzone a few times there.
Neutral site but a home game in the contract with Nebraska. Originally moved by UC to Indy in hopes of drawing more ticket sales. Arrowhead came in and made them a better offer. UC had a $2.5 million guarantee and a share of ticket sales with an upside of nearly $6 million in revenue, no gameday expenses and Arrowhead paid the buyout on their Lucas Oil contract.
