MIAMI V RUTGERS GAME WEEK!

OU was pretty dominating as well. Almost doubled up WVU’s total offense, 24 first downs to 13, and big edge in TOP.

Yep I pointed that out on another thread. They were the better team today. Against a power 4 team. Clearly the stage wasn’t too big for them or their coach.

It looks great and all, but I’m not ready to exalt OU for beating a 60some year old Dick Rod with 81 new players on the WV roster, at home… our UC win was better than that.

Very late in the game w the lead on 3rd and long OU had the guts to call a pass play that made a nice gain (although short of the first down it allowed them to run on 4th down and avoid a punt).

Last week we looked like a line that’s never played football before. 368 yards/17 points isn’t good enough but it’s not 117/0.

For many years it was customary in OOC games for the officiating crew to come from the visitor’s conference. When did that change?

It was hard to care about the game after we got royally screwed on that offensive pass interference call. I don’t blame Chuck for getting that penalty, that call was so bad. That penalty was the momentum killer of the game. That’s the offense I imagine we’re going to see. The QB will be dynamic and run a lot. That will help get our receivers open. The most disappointing thing about today was our corners letting their receivers get off the line so easily. We adjusted some in the 2nd half, but then got called for some penalties. I hope that when we play Navarro and Gleason, we don’t let them get in a rhythm early in the game with easy completions. We made a 56% passer look like Super Bowl 21 Phil Simms today. But I’m more encouraged after today. I think we’ll play well in 2 weeks.

As far as OU is concerned, West Virginia is picked to finish near the bottom of the Big 12. And anything that makes that game bigger is a plus, especially if you’d like our S&P ranking to be high.

Yeah I disagreed with Chuck going off earlier but I think in the end it was the right call.

I’ll take the Named Squirrels of Move In Miami Day at +6.5

I credit Chuck for losing his shit. However he needed to throw a chair on the field!!

I hear you on the OL but we still couldnt run at all. Most of our good plays was Finn making it happen. Maybe better but still very disappointing

Maybe Miami’s TE can’t get open but I only recall one pass attempt to a TE today. Would like to see that position utilized more. Unless they were being kept in to block, in which case the criticism above of the OL might be valid.

As bad as we look in certain areas, I think we will do OK in the MAC. Right now OU and UT appear to be out of our league but other than that……

We certainly weren’t competent, but it was something. Our run blocking was awful to start last season, there’s a decent chance we get it together (having Finn certainly helps).

And, we won’t have to play against big 10 officials.

Just watched horrendous call against Army in game against K-State when it was apparent that a K-State receiver caught a pass, took a couple steps and then fumbled with Army recovery..Officials ruled incomplete pass and as a result K-State may pull out an undeserving win if they can score now.

Army just intercepted K-State and looks to be in the driver’s seat to win 24-21. And they win! Gotta love Army!

And speaking of Army, played in a Folds of Honor golf charity event today with all proceeds to go to educational fund for children of fallen serviceman.

Awesome! How did we play?

Not too bad, Yellow. Team fnished third. Talked to a couple retired Marine Generals I know before the event. Great charity organization! I am not a vet but my son was in the Army Reserves 8 years.

My belief is you must have a decent team. Most of the scores anymore in these tournaments are silly low. I have long held the belief the 2nd and 3rd place teams are the true winners because the winner pulls a fast one. A while back, I played in a 4 man alternate shot and the low score was a 54. Honestly. The math doesn’t add up. At least not at my level.
