MIAMI V BGSU GAME THREAD!

He played great in that half but overall he was 7tds and 1int 63% completion and the 4th highest avg yards per completion vs one fcs but also 2 p4s and a top end G5

That’s making an awfully big proclamation from an awfully small sample size.

3 players in the history of d1 college football have a game with 500+ passing and 100+ rushing yards and Dysert is one of them, to say nothing of his other accomplishments largely playing under Don Treadwell and with 5 soaking wet newspapers (not named Brandon Brooks) blocking for him.

See women’s basketball and Glenn Box who literally took over a dumpster fire.

McComb is not the second coming of Roethlisberger. He’s not even the second coming of Dysert or Gabbert, at this point. Don’t get me wrong, he’s very good and has a very high ceiling, but he still has a ways to go to be listed in their (Roethlisberger, Dysert, and Gabbert) stratosphere.

I’m going to weigh in here, as overall I agree with Alex. I look at Miami as having 3 “pantheon” QB’s, and I will put them in this order: Big Ben, Dysert, Gabbert. All 3 over 10,000 yards passing. David McComb looks like someone who has the skills and ability to be in the discussion with those three but small sample size. Nonetheless the closest I have seen in skills to those three. I hope he is back next year.

McComb was 15th in the country in QBR when he went down as a redshirt freshman. I’m sorry I don’t think Gabbert ever had that potential, and I love Gabbert

After every game including those I attend ( unfortunately I traveled from Palm Springs CA yesterday to attend the game - my last FB trip to Oxford this year- if anyone wants my four season tickets for the rest of the year let me know! ) I review the play-by play review and I also try to watch a replay. A few thoughts; ( 1 ) our QB did not lose this game; ( 2) besides the inexcusable play calling and time management on our last FG drive was a typical CM wasted drive in the 2d quarter - we were at our 45 at third and 2 and we ask Caleb to throw a difficult long pass. - it was incomplete and we then punt the ball into the end zone and BG takes over on a touchback at their 25- a 20 yard differential and a wasted drive. This is typical of CM over the years - often on third and short going for long low percentage chunk plays killing drives. The other two things that stood out were the number of penalties we took esp by our O line and their negative impact on the game. I think we have had 3 penalties for an O lineman down the field in the last two games. The last thing was not only the overall poor D play but on the third and long BG hail marry when their receiver was falling down when he made the catch while 2 of our defenders who were next to him just watched- our soft pass D where we watch the receiver catch the ball and then hope to tackle him is hard to understand -we will be lucky if we have 10 interceptions all year. U Mass will kill us with short passes esp where we play way off the receiver. An experienced coaching staff should never let a game result like yesterday happen.

QBR? What a weird metric to use to make your point, which is demonstrably incorrect anyway.

Brett Gabbert had the 6th highest QBR in the country the week we beat Cincinnati in 2023.

The week before when we dropped 41 on UMass and Gage Larvadain set Miami’s single game receiving record? Gabbert’s QBR was 110th in the country. Are you going to argue that was an indictment on his performance that day?

Hey! My daughter’s varsity golf coach blocked for Dysert for Zac’s first two seasons!!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Well said. And he’s another one who is just dialed in and not afraid to play anyone.
Glad you are fighting the good fight.

Yeah, Indiana went from getting wrecked by the likes of Purdue to winning the natty in two seasons. We replace Chuck with a competent staff and things can turn around in a hurry (or get a lot worse if botched).

McComb could be the second coming of Jesus Christ but we can’t trust that he’s sticking around here even if we keep Chuck. QBs fetch a ton of money, we’ll likely get one good full season out of him before he moves to a power conference program.

We don’t need McComb to turn water into wine or raise the dead. We just need him to be healthy and sling the ball around.

Yet this QB with no potential threw for over 10,000 yards. Potential is what you have coming in. Production after you arrive is what matters.

McComb turning water into wine absolutely would raise attendance. Probably more than raising the dead, in fact.

Sure, but if McComb went over to the Knolls of Oxford and performed that trick I think attendance would increase as well.

Photo of old zombies raised from the dead and drinking too much wine at an MU game. I think we’re onto something here.

Do you know what the zombie’s favorite activity is? I’ll give you a hint: brainstorming promotions to improve Miami football.

Also I have a gift for you:

You’re welcome!

No. Dominating is a 8-0 MAC record every year, by a 40-7 margin.
