Miami takes on 3-12 Akron on Saturday at Akron. Akron is 3-12 on the year and 0-3 in conference play. Ni’rah Clark (10.9ppg.) and Monique Mitchell (10.8 ppg.) lead the way offensively. Can’t take any team lightly, but Akron is definitely a step down from UMass.
What’s worse than Michael Reghi calling MAC football? Him calling MAC women’s basketball.

10-7 Akron at 4 minute TO. Miami looks sluggish, like tired legs. Only have taken 4 shots. Zips have hit 2 threes.
Tretter already has 2 fouls. Like last game, foul trouble early so she likely will sit the remainder of the first half. Miami thin in the post

21-20 Akron after one quarter. Miami has made 7/8 shots but really isn’t playing well and Akron hitting threes. I would expect Box to intensify the defensive pressure second quarter
Akron dominating the boards as well 9-4. Box put in Van Timmeren and she picked up 2 fouls in 1 minute. So with Tretter out he is going to have to go small. At one point he had 5 guards on the floor for Miami

As I predicted Box dialed up the defensive pressure. Akron has 16 turnovers, although Miami also has 11 so Box won’t be happy about that. Singer with 4 assists. Honestly I think this is one of Singer’s poorer games. Miami has 4 players with 2 fouls each. Tretter did not play the second quarter so having her back 3rd quarter will be a boost. Miami got nice minutes off the bench by Elley and Planella. Box was subbing Sakono in for D and Devries for offense last couple minutes as Devries has 2 fouls. Sakono played nice D.
Halftime has been one Akron commercial after another. I believe in one Akron launched a ballistic missile at Michigan!

60-42 after 3 quarters. Miami won the 3rd quarter 22-19. Singer truly has looked gassed this whole game on offense. Scalia and Devries with 14 each. Singer with 7 assists but 5 turnovers and 3 were turnovers you don’t usually see her make. Singer has played 28/30 minutes. Scalia, Devries and Jurjo 23 each. So again, Miami starters loggin a lot of minutes. All that said, Akron isn’t very good, is very young, and Miami is up 18 going into the 3th quarter. Somehow Box is going to have to get his starters a little more rest. Next game on the 14th against EMU.
