How about Ben Roethlisberger and Mean Joe Greene?
āThe Hollywood Blondsā¦. EXPLODE!ā
This? Really? Doesnāt really look official to meā¦
That is not good. No way that was made by ESPN
I think that āofficialā clothing looks as cool as my high schoolās apparel at the Walmart in Chesterfield, MO.
Coming to a refugee camp near you.
Oh, boy! These guys have introduced mass confusion into Frisco Week with their mangling of the name of our bowl game. But they have us winning so I like them. These two teams seem like mirror images of each other.
A bit amazing to me that in this age of the marriage between money/ high tech and big media there is still no dedicated website for the Frisco Football Classic. Information about our bowl is still nested within ESPNās Frisco Bowl site with all meaningful links going to the Dec 21 Frisco Bowl. I expected better nearly ten days after the bowl announcement.
Tech is hard. Spinning up a corporate website means assembling a team of designers, developers, marketers, etc. And yes, ESPN has all of those, but Iād be shocked if they werenāt already at full capacity wrapping up other end of year work. And hiring externally is nearly impossible. Tinder is paying entry level software engineers over $250k.
Long story short, unless this was in the works for months, every team they have probably has their plate full and going external (hire or external vender) probably takes a larger cut than theyāre willing to eat for a one off bowl game.
Probably means I will have to buy my shirt from that bootleg site if I want one. If we win, I usually buy a shirt. Recommend using the credit card with the $300 limit if thatās the case. Lol
Itās just a slightly more generic logo than the generic Frisco Classicā¦
Like New Coke and Classic Coke. Come on Miami tell me you will not be the Bengals and sling it in this one.
More confusion, thereās a Frisco Baseball Classicā¦
I donāt have an issue with thisā¦sort of cool two games at same place (other than how the field might look)ā¦as long as you get redirected to this website when you search Frisco Classicā¦whatās the issue?
Did notice, no VIP ESPN for our gameā¦they are like āoutta here not staying around for the Classic!ā
Otherwiseā¦itās a good storylineā¦two teams with bowl futility going after each otherā¦both 6-6!
Iād like to think we are a 8-3 caliber teamā¦and I hope it shows on game day.
PS. Maybe Miami will be licensed to make their own apparel?
The FCS National Championship Game is also being held in Frisco again. Who knew Frisco, Texas would become the center of the college football universe!
Hopefully you can get a Frisco Melt sandwich and vlasic pickleā¦washed down w/ a Classic Coke at the game.
Would be ideal.
From reading the Mean Green message board and the way they are tracking ticket sales, it would seem their fan base is pretty amped up for this game as they smell a possible victory (given our now well known track record OOC). Lots of posts predicting a near sell out for the game.
Iām somewhat concerned about the carbonation level of the Coke.
Valid concern, as this is an afterthoughtā¦maybe not enough CO2 was ordered!
Has anyone been able to get a feel for how well attended the bowl is going to be for Miami? The band and Shakerettes were reportedly going but there doesnāt seem to be anything on their web page, or on Facebook or Twitter about their participation. Other than knowing about the team hotel - with $400 plus a night rooms - and the pregame Miami Alumni office sponsored event, Iāve not seen anything regarding team travel, preparations, or team/fan bowl events. It is good to see the DFW Alumni Chapter has the pregame event on its list of events.
We are just a shade over a week out now from kickoff. Could this hastily pulled together event be overpromised and underdelivered? I sure hope not because Iām thrilled we got into a bowl and werenāt ostracized as the bowl seasonās sole turd in a punch owl.
But itās eerily quiet on all fronts - except for UNT fans planning to take every seat in the stadium and make it a Green Meanie home game.
Hello RedHawk fans, just wanted to say I come in peace and look forward to competing against yāall in the bowl game!
As many of you have seen our message board is gomeangreen.com
Our fans range from overly optimistic to incredibly pessimistic(I typically fall in the latter).
Our coach Seth Littrell is an Air Raid disciple that has brought in elements of the Briles Baylor offense. Typically we like to sling the ball around a lot, especially when we had Mason Fine, who was basically our Ben Roethlisberger but 5ā10 on a good day. Since he graduated, we have no consistent QB play to speak of and a lot of injured receivers, so weāve switched to a more ground and pound team that has led to some good results, winning 5 straight to get to bowl eligibility.
Iām not confident in our chances to win, mainly because Littrell has been blown out in every bowl game heās been in sans the first one. A lot of our fanbase wants him gone and a lot of them seem to think 6-6 in year six of the highest paid coach in the conferenceās tenure is good enough to keep him around.
Either way should be a good game with a majority UNT crowd. Hoping to see some of yāall there!
If you have any questions feel free to ask. I donāt consider myself an expert by any means but I know most of the players and the staff so I can maybe give some insight.
Go Mean Green!
Certainly donāt think the game will be āoverpromised,ā as I cant see where much is being promised. Having said that, I am certainly pumped for the game, and it is a great excuse to shut down the office an afternoon early for Christmas and have a bowl game cook-out!
While not the sexiest opponent, we should at least get the out of conference monkey off of our back, and any bowl game win, even against the North Texasās of the world is a great spring board for next year!
