The good ol’ days…
I didn’t get to watch, but reviewing the comments seems like we were good in the 1st and not so good in the 2nd but still belonged even though the score was ugly.
I have to say I like this schedule, some peers some wins and some competitive teams. Not my CC death march that I enjoyed, but we are a work in process, so let’s get ready to run the MAC!
I think we have some players of good MAC quality, just got to make a team out of it, which is hard these days with the portal. Miami used to get guys and build them up to be good as Jrs and Srs, hard to do these days. Hope coach can make this happen with these guys?
I attended the game, very optimistic what we can do in MAC play. Our point guards need to be a threat to get to the rim to open up easier shots with kick out. Craft, Suder and Elmer are extremely good wing players. Cooper did not have a good game struggle with strong defender on him and could not get us into our offense which lead to some of the struggle in the second half.
I won’t try to get as technical as mz343 or Dick. I will keep this simple. What a casual fan might say. Once Michigan stopped turning the ball over from the start of the second half, year 3 of Miami under Steele looked a whole lot like year 1.
That was largely what Cooper did the entire game.
I thought this was Byers best overall game of the year.
Now we need to put this game behind us immediately and concentrate on Siena and then Jacksonville or Mercer. Siena is now 3-1 having lost their last game to Albany. Let’s hope the team rebounds from this loss appropriately. I might make one tweak to the starting lineup and that is to start Ipsaro over Cooper. Maybe.
Michigan started 2 grad students and 3 juniors.
Miami 2 juniors and 3 soph, with the next 5 off the bench all underclassmen.
So difficult to play a more talented team on the road, and then add to that the experience difference.
We played a pretty nice half against a team that is going to be top 25. 40 minutes would be better, but a half is better than nothing.
That is certainly true. But you play who is on the schedule.
