Miami men at Indiana 7:00 Friday on BTN

Indiana is 6-2, Miami 5-2. Indiana has had 5 home games and played 3 games in a Bahamas Tournament ( lost by 28 to Louisville, Lost by 16 to #3 Gonzaga, beat Providence by 16). They also beat South Carolina by 16 at home. Their other 4 wins are over G5’s at home by an average of 24 points.

Here are the 6 guys who have started this year:
6-9 Soph McKenzie Mgbako 16.8ppg/5.5rpg
6-9 Jr Malik Reneau 15.0ppg/6.3rpg
7-0 RS soph Oummar Ballo transfer from Arizona 12.5ppg/8.3 rpg
6-3 RS Soph Myles Rice transfer from Washington State 11.1ppg/29 assists
6-5 RS-Sr Trey Galloway 5.9ppg/32 assists
6-3 Soph Kanaan Carlyle transfer from Stanford4.5ppg

Coach Steele says we are going there to win. We did lead Michigan late in the first half before they went on a long run and drilled us in the second half. With the Hoosiers size I would think we have to work for open 3’s and hit them. Everybody rebounds on defense.

I’m not driving to Bloomington and back to Indy, flying to Detroit at 6am, then driving back from Detroit to Indy all in 24 hours to see 2 losses, I’ll tell you that.

Been waiting 20 years since I stepped foot on campus in 2004 to see the RedHawks march into Assembly Hall. Lets shock the world.

Will be curious to see how we deal with their size. It’s a shame we can’t lure Galloway into the casino the night before the game like when they played Louisville earlier this year lol

This was my senior year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and I attended with my father, who was Miami Class of '46. It is one of my all-time favorite sports memories. They had no answer for Ron Harper.

I’m looking forward to attending again tomorrow. I hope Miami can replicate that 1983 performance.

That game was the coming out party for Harp. He had a great game and was the SI POTW. Great national recognition and gave us a hint of what we were getting from Ron.
Also, that was Steve Alfords’ first game. I heard that Knight was so pissed that he held a midnight practice after the game. Yet, he and Coach Hedric were good friends. That’s why he agreed to play in Oxford. Great atmosphere for the game.

Fun Fact:

There is only 1 coach who took a team into Bloomington and beat Bobby Knight on his home floor and also took a team into Chapel Hill and beat Dean Smith on his home floor.

After the NC game, Darrell hosted a “film session” replay of the game in a lecture hall on campus. I recall a decent turnout to see a grainy black and white film. No sound, and the score was kept on flip cards in a corner of the floor

I think if we can hit our 3s and fluster them, it’s possible. They haven’t looked real good this year. So much so, that people started grumbling about Mike needing to go - again.

And I took that guys coaching class!

I attended that film session. It was great. Lots of energy. I remember we played Xavier on that Monday. They were not good–at all. We won 55-51 (IIRC). I was concerned that our trip two days later would be a disaster. In fact, we lead 55-51 at the half and continued to control the game. Lumpkin was terrific. Smith said he was the best point guard he saw all season. Everyone played great. I remember listening to the game at the Delt house. By the end of the game, there was a celebration on campus. Some of us went to meet the team plane. Unfortunately, the fog/weather was bad and they didn’t get back to Oxford that night. I remember going to practice the next day. As I walked down to the court, I started clapping. I knew all the guys and it was a great time had by all! A great memory.

Not a good start!

Bad start. Can’t hit open shots while IU can’t miss. 13-3.

Horrible start

6-1 Miami run

Why does Simon Skjodt have his name on the court?

And, more importantly, who the hell is he?

19-11 Skaljac finally missed

His wife put up 40 million to renovate Assembly Hall, eliminating the need to build a new facility.

Another sickening reminder money and ego trump all other accomplishments.
