I believe Harrison had two surgeries on his shin splints. Sat out virtually the entire season. At this point, I would think that if he was granted a medical scholly for the next two years it would have been announced by now. The portal is full and will close in a month. Maybe the decision has already been made one way or the other. But if he’s done, I would assume Steele would be active in replacing him. Not that he couldn’t do that today. But why keep a player on the future roster if he has no future?
However, I would love to have him back healthy and a power player on the front line. We have a desperate need that might be answered by the incoming frosh. But, they are freshman so have to have patience.
Safford is only a junior eligibility-wise and Hunter only has 1 year of eligibility.
One more transfer to replace Harrison and:
PG Dean, Isparo, Cooper
2G Mabrey, Hunter, Cooper
SF Safford, Lewis, Elmer
PF Transfer, Kotecki, Elmer
C Mirambeaux, Morris, Potter
You forgot the walk-on factor. I am willing to bet we add to more and given how much they play in games, I might wager they will come from real playing backgrounds versus just found on campus ones. Eli is a lock so maybe we add two more?
Harrison is in the portal.
I wish Curtis all the best. It is a shame due to injuries we never got to see what he could fully do on the court. Now, let’s find a post player who can give us quality minutes on the court. I believe this also means Steele has now cleaned house of all the players connected to the prior staff.
Then when he sucks next year every boby will know i was right that steele sucks
But what happens if he’s good.
If? He’s called theman for a reason.
He couldn’t even do good at x
He beat several nationally ranked teams at X. Go take the time and look at his results. He will be a legend if he does that at Miami.

We only have two “forwards/big” who have college experience. Given the plethora of players in the portal, I hope we land someone with game experience. Plus with only 5 players at this position now, that would seem to be the position of need.
Can you breakdown how you picture the offense running next season? I see 4 players at 1 position. Elmer is really more of a wing. The other 4 are all fighting for playing time at the 5. Kotecki can also play the 4. So at best, 3.5 players all going for a single post position. That’s a better ratio than just about any other position on the team.
Jive–When you look at the bigs, there the 4 and 5 spots to fill. Clearly, Mirambeaux, Morris and Potter are fives. AM has one year left and Potter needs a year of getting stronger and honing his game against D1 players in practice. But I hope he sees some time unless he redshirts. Morris is a real talent. Can he play the four? Kotecki has been compared to JT Shumate, the Toledo 3/4, by Coach Steele. And Elmer will play the four and I think that as athletic as he is, maybe the three. So, as a group, they will hopefully fill those spots well for the next several seasons.
SMH.
The only options at the 4 on the current roster are Safford/Lewis (guards playing out of position who don’t have the size for that position in the MAC, as we saw this season) and Kotecki/Elmer (true freshmen where we don’t know for sure how good they are and who’ll need time to get their feet under them). The goal should be getting someone who can plug the hole there for a season, whether it’s a stretch forward or a wing with size.
Why not find a true center? Rebounding ands defense in the paint a major problem at times last year.
My prediction is that a new portal addition will be announced within the next two weeks.
I see a pattern.
Billy Smith went to the portal shortly before Bradley Dean commitment.
Mitchell Rylee entered the portal not long before Hunter commitment.
I am guessing Steele has another portal transfer that he knows is coming and Harrison was told there was no room at the Miami Inn.
I can’t say I like the new world of college sports. Good for some but a terrible idea for the majority who have lost a good college scholarship and may never be seen on the court or field again.
