Miami MBB 2023-24 Roster

I see your point but, it’s not fair to the coach if he can’t have a full team. Yes, Harrison is a sad deal. Had all the promise but was injured 3 years. Yet, Coach Steele and staff are trying to make their own names here. They need every chance to get out of the basement and every player on the roster matters. That’s the rub. I only see this as a fan. But I think I’m prolly right.

I will be shocked if it isn’t sooner than two weeks. But Lax, I think your scenario is correct. There is a pattern.

If a player is not good enough to warrant a D1 athletic scholarship, then I guess they should feel fortunate for the years they were on a scholarship at a quality school like Miami.

I’m sure I’m in the minority when it comes to this, but I love the transfer portal. I like that players get one ‘free’ transfer without sitting out a season, and I like that new head coaches have the opportunity to rebuild their programs quickly by recruiting players who fit their system. Yes, it results in a ‘weeding out’ process for marginal D1 athletes, but that’s life. You’re always being evaluated for scholarships, jobs, promotions, friends, on and on and on.

Anxious to see how the final scholarship is used. Big man who can come in and start this season would be ideal. I have faith in this coaching staff. To rebuild the entire roster one year on the job has been fun to watch.

Looks like this is the lineup we’re going to roll with. Lots of learning early and then I see things coming together sometime early in the conference schedule.

The talent on this team is good enough for us to win early in the year as well. I am still amazed we lost to UGA by 8 at UGA with the rag tag lineup we had. We will be better.

By the end of last season, we were the 5th or 6th best team in the MAC. I think our goal for the 23–24 season should be a top 4 seed, and then win the MAC in 24-25.

Depending on how fast we gel, we might win it sooner!

This team will still be very young. Bultman and Hunter were additions to add some experience, but the key will be whoever from last year can have a breakout season. I still expect struggles early in the season. #yearthree

You forgot Bradley Dean who brings experience to the young backcourt.

We really needed a forward with this last scholarship. Only 2/5 of our bigs have ever played college. And one could make an argument that Elmer will play guard given his size and age.

I don’t have an issue with Bultman…his resume seems good. But we just picked up another 6-5 experienced guy in Hunter. Now we have 6 very experienced players for 2 positions (assuming Dean will not play pg). Also include Yofan in the mix which would make 7…he played well for us last year and could be a good backup for us. I don’t know how Steele is going to spread time.

I don’t get it. I hope Steele knows what he’s doing.

Aren’t we still getting him?

If I was a walk on, I’d be excited to play for coach Steele and crew. They have proven they will play walk on’s. Maybe not for tons of minutes, but absolutely they will play.

I think I would have preferred a true power forward type as well, obviously an impact guy at that. I worry about Mirambeaux’s ability to drop weight, play good enough defense, and stay out of foul trouble. But if he makes a transformation this summer it goes a long way to soothing the lack of experience in the frontcourt as he’ll play a ton. Morris developing and learning to defend without fouling a big second need this summer.

My guess, as I’m sure the staff realizes all of the above, is that they trust the development of Mirambeaux and Morris, and like Potter’s and Kotecki’s respective abilities to contribute early. Would think the calculus became liking Bultman over some true frontcourt options, and perhaps even liking his ability to play ‘big’ if needed.

I’m pretty sure Anderson M scored more than 1.7ppg this past season.

Curious. Did Eli Yofan play enough to earn a letter?
