Love and Honor!
Cut down the nets!
Again!!
Men and women both undefeated at Millett!!
No losses for Miami in Millett this season
Zero losses at Millet for the men and women this season!!
Dick is loving all of this. Just over the moon. How big was the crowd?
Absolutely adorable. We’re going to need donations to replace all these nets we keep cutting down.
Probably about 1100.
Winners win.
Ladies might have set an attendance record this year as well…
Glenn Box is almost assuredly MAC Coach of the Year. And he likely will get some votes for National Coach of the Year. And deservedly so.
With 25 wins Miami has set a new single season record!
Grumpy. You are my favorite person on this board. I love that you were at the game. I think we hit the grand slam this year for Dick in that basketball (men’s /women’s) is going to the show and I think baseball and softball will. This is the golden age of MU sports.
This is my 45th year attending Women’s Basketball; I’ve seen it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. These three years with Coach Box transcend everything. He inherited a mess, most of the roster had left. He was hired late and had to cobble together a roster. They went 9-20. But the foundation was there in the presence of Tretter and Jurjo. Adding Singer in year two was the key. We won 19 games.
Now here we are, Champions and a record for wins in a season. In three years we’ve gone from less than mediocre to the premier program in the league. This staff is the best we’ve ever had. From recruiting to player development to roster management they are spectacular.
Watch them play defense, you can see how much their opponents are flustered, they are getting smothered at every turn. The game last night was won in the first quarter when Kent was held to 6 points.
Let’s enjoy this because at some point Coach Box is going to go to a power program.
I have been attending Miami women’s basketball since 1983. Every single game at home from 1983-1987, and then when we could since, as we are 360 miles away. So 43 years. Same with football, hockey and men’s basketball. This is the most complete Miami team I have seen since 1983. And really it is not even close.
As to Glenn Box, I posted on another thread over a month ago, David Sayler may soon be in the uneviable position of having to replace both HC of MBB and WBB. I hope not. These are two excellent coaches and Miami WBB and MBB have never been in better hands, at least since Charlie Coles retired for the men. But especially women’s basketball. I hope Sayler is doing everything in his power to keep both Glenn and Travis. They are just excellent coaches, they are tremendous human beings.
Tamar Singer has 215 assists so far this year. That is 40 above the previous Miami single season record of 175, and we still have a regular season game to play. She has 338 career assists in less than 2 years which now is ranked 10th all time in career assists at Miami. She needs 4 assists to move into 9th place. With 4 more steals this season Tamar moves into 10th place in single season steals. With 9 more steals she moves into 25th place career steals. All this in less than 2 full seasons.
Amber Tretter with 752 career rebounds sits at 8th place all time in career rebounds and hasn’t finished her 3rd year in the program. Tretter with 1085 career points sits at 25th place career points and if she hits her average of 14 this season against OU she moves into a tie for 22nd place alltime. Tretter’s 97 career blocks place her at 7th all time.
Ilse Devries 83 career blocks place her in 10th place all time.
