MIAMI HOSTS KENT-MAC TITL ON THE LINE-GAME NOTES AND GAME THREAD

The Miami women’s basketball team hosts Kent State on Wednesday, March 4 at 7
p.m. A win versus the Flashes would give the RedHawks their first Mid-American Conference
Regular Season Championship since the 2003-04 campaign. A win against Kent would be Miami’s 25th of the year, a new program record.

Big shout out to Miami’s bench- Over the past two games Miami’s bench has exploded
for 34 points. The RedHawks posted 16 bench points in the win over Eastern Michigan and added 18 points last Saturday versus Akron.

Kent State is in a three-way tie for sixth-place in the MAC at 14-14
overall and 8-8 in conference play. The Golden Flashes are led by Mya Babbitt (16.1 ppg.)
and Janae Tyler (10.5 ppg.). These same two teams competed in the conference
opener back on Dec. 31, a contest the RedHawks won 67-63. Tamar Singer led the way with
16 points, nine rebounds and eight assists for the RedHawks, while Ilse de Vries (15 points)
and Amber Tretter (14 points) also scored in double figures.

20-6 Miami after 1st quarter. Miami could easily have 30 as there have been 4 missed layups and 2 missed FT. Really nice crowd, especially students. Points off turnovers Miami 15 Kent 0.

Kent really isn’t very good

Very poor start for MIami 2nd quarter. 24-15. Miami already has 5 fouls. Miami missing shots all over. Kent playing fast and Miami not handling it real well. Need to settle down. Hopefully this media timeout does the trick. Miami with 6 turnovers and 6 assists. Miami also only shooting 32% from the field.

34-24 Miami at the half. Not the cleanest 2nd quarter for Miami. Foul calls in Kent’s favor were a bit ridiculous. Miami hit a couple threes late to get the lead back to double digits. Tretter 10 points and 7 boards. Singer 5 points, 5 assists. Taylor 5 off the bench and Gonzalez with 6.

Kent timeout with 525 to go 3rd quarter.. 45-28 Miami

Scalia and Singer both with 3 fouls.

Bench is giving us some better numbers as well

Heading to the 4th quarter Miami up 53-35. Tretter with a double double 17 points 10 boards. DeVries has 15 points 7 boards. Singer 7 assists. But Singer also has 6 turnovers and Glenn clearly has not been happy about some of her decisions, including rifling a 95 mile an hour fastball down the court and another home run attempt that simply wasn’t necessary. No need for HR when doubles will do.

Saylor told Pat Forde they were going to recycle the confetti for tonight. We’re one good quarter away from that.

62-43 Miami. Kent timeout with 4:43 to play.

Much less drama tonight as we’re dominating Kent.

Back-to-back nights of champions!!!

Sorry, not to ‘touch the third rail,’ but I’m not getting tired of winning!!

At least this kind of Miami winning!!

Wow!

We can hit the threes!

And, play solid defense!
