Dan Dalrymple mentioned guys taking a pay cut to come to the Broncos as free agents from what they were making in NIL.
Eh, even before NIL, the last group of people Iād feel sorry for are DI college athletes in FB or MBB
Exactly what the age of NIL and unlimited transfers have created in every college sport. Athletes have the ability to leave every year and pursue new teams, revenue streams for NIL, more playing time, etc⦠Schools have the freedom to end that relationship each year as well if they expectations arenāt being met in any area such as performance on ice, grades, discipline, attitude, etcā¦
It sucks players are being let go but this is the new age of college athletics. Sports are grounded in the results, how many games have you won, and you will be judged mainly on that metric.
For the past 10 or so years the results havenāt been there or anywhere close to what expectations are. Three coaches during that time. Seems to me the common denominator is the players and their performance. We have a coach now saying the results arenāt anywhere near the expectations he has set, the university has set, and the fans want. Only way to change that is bring in new players.
Not saying it doesnāt incredibly suck guys are being let go and asked to leave. But in the end the results just werenāt good enough. The bar has been set high and everyone now knows if you donāt hit that bar there will be consequences.
I think we have good recruits coming in and down the pipeline. Iām not kidding myself and thinking next year we are finishing 1st in the league and getting into the NCAA but I think it would be reasonable to think we can improve and at least finish 7th. Win at least 10 -12 games. Half of those being league games at least.
Yeah to be fair to the coach he could have done this and cut all the players a year ago to have his own team to start with. He didnāt and decided to give the guys who were already RedHawks a chance. And what did they give him? 0 conference wins and a 26 game winless streak. I donāt blame him for wanting to have some new faces. Coming after his character is crazy after he basically sacrificed a whole year of the rebuild out of respect for the current players.
Nah, this is what athletes wanted and this is what they get. If they arenāt an asset to Miami athletics then goodbye
In the limited time he had he may have even taken a quick look at them on tape or went off of memory if he faced them in the USHL and said ok I can work with this, only to come to the conclusion that they donāt fit this league.
Said way better than I could. Nailed it.
And players can leave at any time for any reason and donāt have to sit out now.
That one parent has it out for you on Twitter Bonk, seems like he/she doesnāt know you just report what you hear and discover but that you are somehow involved. I for one love your reporting on hockey as its the only outlet to get any news for the team.
I agree. Bonk is a fair reporter. The Walter Bonkite of hockey reporting.
(Effortless)
Alec Martinez, 3 Stanley Cups,Reilly Smith,Stanley Cup, Jeff Zatkoff, Stanley cup.
Cha Ching!
Yeah obviously the list can go for a while. All of those guys and more were big producers at Miami and beyond. Those guys were high-producing players. And they didnāt need a relative to go online to bitch and moan to try to prove it.
Thank you.
Iām just kind of blown away that the same people that wanted players to be paid are outraged that programs are now being treated like businesses.
And the same people that bitch about player cuts defend their arguments by pointing to Miamiās record this season.
Hello, McFly, thatās why this move is being made.
While this all feels very ā2+2=4ā, Iāve found some people struggle to look at the equation before having an answer.
