Miami at Western Michigan Tuesday at 7:00 ESPN+

Well that 4-minute chunk wasn’t nearly as successful.

Lead is down to 2.

Lairy had a couple really bad rotations on defense (starting by running at Lobsinger on the perimeter and leaving Norman wide open). When we play simple defense, we do well. When we get fancy, we put players in bad matchups.

WMU knocks down a couple shots in a row and Steele immediately goes with a Morris-Williams-Safford-Tatum lineup.

21-15 Miami at the 8 and under TO. We were up 4-0 during that 4 minutes. Western had a 4 shot possession but went 0 for 4.

CMU up 22-20. EMU trails 25-21.

Turnovers killing us

25-19 Miami at the 4 and under TO. Western scored 15 points in the second 4 minutes and have 4 points the other 12 minutes. As Cool Papa says, we are just throwing it away. I don’t think guys are working hard enough to get open.

Maybe don’t put a boom mic directly in front of your most annoying fan.

“Killing us” seems like a big exaggeration for a team up 10 with 5 turnovers in a half…

Mabry hits a 3 at the buzzer to put us up 10 at 36-26. No one and one’s for either team in the first half.

Jive love your snarky comments. Every time we got a lead we turned it over . Killed momentum. As the announcer said we should be up 15 but for inopportune turnovers.

At the half CMU trails 45-34 and EMU trails 35-31.

Lewis is quietly playing great defense. He’s getting grabbed, pushed, and pulled down low, but holding his ground. That last foul probably should’ve been an offensive foul instead. His move in the lane was beautiful.

Morris very active on the boards. Setting teammates up well, but they’re overthrowing him in return.

Mabrey showing how his game is expanding.

Lairy had a couple bad defensive possessions but went right back to it. Him and Safford are setting the tone well.

Mirambeaux is also playing solid on both sides.

Love the energy Morris brings.

I still cannot fathom how Anderson flew under the radar at CSU. Weight most likely. But damn is he talented. Dude always delivers.

Nice to see Kamari drive that one time. Would like to see him do more of that.

Miami’s halftime leaders: Lewis with 4 rebounds, Lairy with 3 assists and 11 points, Lewis and Mirambeaux with +/- of +10.

Williams not looking quite as sharp as the last couple of games. Tatum and Morris with 2 fouls. Tray Maddux has most of Western’s offense with 11 points.

He was 390 pounds.

By my count, only one live ball turnover, right? The team’s goal is 10 or fewer.

3 were as the shot clock was expiring because the ball handler was smothered. It’s the same as a missed shot, probably better because they were all dead balls.

Given that Rob Summers was on the CSU staff, one might be able to infer that he had a very open conversation with Anderson after leaving for Miami last offseason. I could imagine a scenario where he said something to the effect of “you are a very talented basketball player, but your weight will be an issue in the current situation no matter where you play; come with me to Oxford where we can help you be the best you can be on the court and for your own health.”
