The tournament is more important than the regular season. It’s why the winner of the tournament goes to the dance.
That’s kinda how I looked at it…Akron presumably will have a better seed than Toledo would have, amd probably gives the MAC a better chance at a round one victories.
Conference tournaments are around because they make money. I think having an end of season event that matters is good for competition’s sake, but let’s not kid ourselves on the real reason they proliferated and were designed to have more impact.
Death, taxes, and Toledo choking in the tourney. I feel for them, a drought like theirs has to suck. But for Miami’s sake it was better for Akron to win, and for the MAC’s sake it’s better if they finally win a tournament game.
I thought Toledo did a good job of taking the Akron run in the 2nd half and countering. If they would’ve won, it would’ve been because of the great play of Parks of all people down the stretch. I thought they did the right thing in letting Blyden go 1-on-1 a few times, he just didn’t convert. Besides the Vanderjagt turnover, the one they’d like to have back is the corner 3 by Hardman to tie it at 74.
Akron is built for the MAC, not the NCAA tourney. I think they’ll lose their game because they’ll play someone with guards that can keep up with theirs and are bigger and more physical inside.
Death, taxes, Toledo choking in March
we shot 6/13 from three in 2nd half and 2/4 in final 5:00 not including the last prayer at the buzzer when game was already decided.
