Toledo up 12 at half. I predict they will blow it.
Well, I believe we were up by 12 at the half last year…
I think we had an even bigger lead in the second half last year.
We’ll see what happens, but Akron looks terrible and Toledo is playing very well, so far.
Is this game meaningless for our dance chances?
Thoughts?
I think a Toledo win strengthens Miami. Shows MAC parity. Not only did Miami defeat Akron in the regular season (the odds darling for the MAC tournament), but Miami beat Toledo twice. One of those was a double-digit victory at Toledo. And, if that same Toledo team gets to dance without play-in, then Miami must be a 10 seed.
Now I’ve jinxed Toledo and Miami; Akron likely comes back and wins.
A win for Toledo solidifies them as a Q2 win for us.
Akron has turned it up a notch, and Toledo doesn’t have that same ability.
Everything written about the process says by this time on Saturday night, the bracket is basically made with a few contingency brackets. I’d guess whatever the Miami decision made is done with only the possible A10 bid steal of Dayton impacting us in a contingency.
Yeah I don’t see how this outcome affects us much. If Toledo wins, just bring on more naysayers that the top of the MAC is overrated.
It’s embarrassing how quickly Toledo cratered. It’s almost like Kowalczyk doesn’t know how to coach in a high pressure situation?
I wouldn’t be opposed to Blyden entering the portal and getting his money.
Does anyone know how we went from last team in the field to second team in the play in today. I know St Louis is one but what is the other?
Santa Clara??
He’s really good. Selfishly, would like to watch him again next year in the MAC, and I think more genuinely good players in the league the better it is for everybody.
But my money is certainly on him being elsewhere next season.
Wild finish
The MAC final is usually nuts. And this one followed that tradition.
Wow…that was a long 3 by the Zips to win it! Guess they’ll get a #12 seed.
Looked like a good crowd. 11,072 on hand
This has no effect on your chances at a bid or if you will be in Dayton.
That said I am glad Akron won gives the MAC a better shot in theory to win a game in the big dance having Miami OH and Akron both in.
I thought you guys were safe to stay out of Dayton but I think that might have changed when St Louis choked vs Dayton because VCU would been heading to Dayton now they or Dayton themselves take up a spot as auto bid and St Louis isn’t going to Dayton most likely.
Well, hopefully, in the end, the two best teams from the MAC are dancing!
Am I being a curmudgeon, or should Akron be called the Conference Tournament Champion, not the Conference Champion? Is the regular season really meaningless?
