Maryland Eastern Shore at Miami Tuesday at 7:00

MES is an historical black college playing in the MEAC and located in Princess Anne, Maryland. They are division 1 and went 9-20 last year. So far this season they lost at Vanderbilt 102-69, lost at Penn 85-84 ( they beat Penn last year), and won a home game 96-77 over Penn State Schuvlkill.

Their new coach this year is Cleo Hill, JR. He was the head coach at Winston Salem State the last 6 years with a .640 winning percentage there. Playing a killer non league schedule that percentage will be extremely difficult to match. Non league they have 4 home games and 13 road games. Here are some of the away games…Vanderbilt, Penn, Miami (0), Old Dominion, Murray State, Illinois, Arkansas, LittleRock, UConn, and Maryland.

Likely starters

6-5 JR Keytron Shaw 24ppg 5rpg 3apg

6-8 240 lb JR Christopher Flippin 16ppg 8rpg

6-4 FR Kyrrell Shaw 10ppg

6-6 JR Cardell Bailey 9ppg

6-1 JR Jose Cuelva 9ppg 3apg

While this is a lower level D1 league, they have good athletes and can score a lot of points. We had better be more ready to battle than we were on Saturday.

Good start. Up 12-3 at the first media timeout.

Potter checking in at the next dead ball.

This team is 362 (3rd last) in kenpom

We should really blow this team out if we’re anywhere near where we hope we were at the start of the season.

Did UMES only bring 8 players?

Yes. 8 players 4 coaches and a manager.

Sweet Unis tonight!

They’re making everything but they will run out of gas.

This is not exactly encouraging.

I think the Hawks have more players than we have fans?

Shout out to the guy in the camo hoodie who appears to be the only person in the student section tonight.

Defensive rotations are a bit slow. Offense looks solid - limited turnovers and getting good looks each trip. Missed too many layups. That’s really the difference between this and a blowout.

I cant quite figure out this half. I dont remember us making a lot of turnovers. Seemed like we made most of our open shots. Rebounded ok. Defense at times was impressive. But we are only up 4 on a team we were favored to beat by 17

I had the same defensive observation. Not forcing turnovers on double-teams, and MES able to pass out of it and get the ball to an open shooter.

That’s been an issue with recent Miami teams. Too many outside shots.
