MAC Transfer Updates

I look forward to the day that we c. pull an upset against Arizona on a Thursday or Friday in March.

But right now, I’m actually looking forward to the day that we see our name next to Arizona on Selection Sunday.

I’m not saying we need to beat Arizona. I’m saying we should strive to have a team that doesn’t lose by 30+ to Arizona if we do make it like Akron did.

Party of one here, but I feel like we already beat Arizona in the ncaa tournament, so boxed checked!

Who’s next on the list.

What bothers me about Potter leaving is that he stepped up his game in February and March and now we will never get to see all that he might have done. I have no real idea if he gets the chance to be in the UK rotation or not…What you commonly see from a young 7 footer is that they struggle the first couple of seasons but just keep getting better, Reese certainly was following that pattern.

I think we would all love that, but in the NIL/transfer portal era, it’s getting more and more difficult for MAC schools. Which is I’m resigned to the fact that our goal should be to get our name on the NCAA Tournament bracket. Actually being competitive in that game is icing on the cake.

Those intramural jerseys were sweet. I shoulda taken #20.

This will be the SIXTH school for Thomas … gotta love the Portal

.began his collegiate career at Division II Queens College in North Carolina (2020-21), transferred to play at Navarro Junior College in Texas (2021-22) for one season, then transferred to the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin of the Horizon League (2022-23), for one season, then transferred to Texas San Antonio (2023-24) for one season…entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal on April 17, 2024 and committed to Florida State and now Bowling Green.
WOW.

Stanford is ACC

I am sorry for us that Potter left because I think he had just turned the corner and was becoming a much better player. I am sorry for him because I think the paucity of playing time he will see at UK will keep him from reaching his potential.

Think with Mark Sears, maybe people think his transition is the norm. Wish nothing but the best for Potter, but I agree with your statement, John.

Preposterous. Stanford in the Atlantic Coast Conference, things of that nature.

Updates through 5/6

What’s interesting about this chart of incoming MAC players, so far, Ohio and Toledo seem to have the most incoming players who have played meaningful basketball. The players trending down to the MAC from power conference teams, with one or two exceptions, for the most part, barely played, were injured/redshirt or both.

Now you Dookies have to deal with that preposterous prancing tree and the Leland Stanford Junior University contraband!

All I’m sayin’ is that the role of “snooty private school everyone else hates” was already adequately addressed.

There was another #34 that was pretty good as well and he used to play hoops at Withrow!

So the MAC lost Fat Hill but gained Phat Phat Brooks.
