And MANY years ago, there was…Fatty Taylor!
The MAC just can’t get rid of that stubborn fat.
Eastern also added Mehki Ellison from Stetson. They’re kind of cooking in the portal right now. Three double digit scorers from other mid majors.
Do not sleep on Stan Heath. Also, the prophesy foretells we will one day have a third Mekhi play for Miami. When? I don’t know. I don’t have a crystal ball. But soon. Maybe?
Another interesting tidbit … Kent State picked up its second high school recruit in the late signing period. He’s a 6-6 kid from Indiana who committed to them last summer, decommitted became a 2026 recruit and went to prep school. Now has decided to revert to 2025 and signed again with Kent. That’s the backstory. But the interesting part to me is instead of gleaning all portal players to fill in the blanks (although they do have two portal kids) they have picked up two HS kids that look to be high MAC-A10 type players they probably would not have gotten early, … and would be in a bidding war later trying to get them out of the portal. The key will be keeping them. But the first trick is to get them in house. Just something to note going forward.
BTW … anyone checking out what Central Michigan is doing. I believe they have two 7-footers!!! committed, plus a former Michigan POY (originally signed by Michigan) PG. MAC BB should be interesting, 2025-26, to say the least.
Not that many! I saw him play in person several times with the Virginia Squires. One of his teammates was Julius Erving.
Who is the second? They picked up one from Ferris State and a 6’10" big from IU South Bend. The 7-footer isn’t particularly interesting other than his size, but the other one seems to have a well-rounded game: conference defensive player of the year, second leading scorer on the team, and shoots well from all over. That said, it was a pretty bad team and conference, and when playing against bigs also transferring to D1, he wasn’t as impressive.
Fats is a great get for them. Feels similar to Craft coming to Miami.
