MAC Transfer Updates

Blows my mind that Scott and Okonkwo have eligibility left. Doesn’t seem possible.

With all this crazy NIL stuff, can we pay for extra players? Seems like it does not really matter as money flows all over the place to the players at some schools. Why not pay for some extra depth?

P.S. I jest as I know there have to be some “rules” for this crazy NIL mess.

Craft could still come back. I really hope he does, but if not, we still have a solid roster heading into next season.

Agreed. Best of luck to Mekhi.

Best of luck to Cooper. With Trey Perry coming in next year - look for him to get significant minutes also in the PG rotation. My feeling is that Perry might have stolen a lot of Cooper’s PT by the end of next season anyway.

We have 5 freshman recruits coming in - a PG, 2 wings, the stretch 4, and the big man. I can’t recall all the names right off - getting to old for that. :joy:

Good catch. So we have two open scholarships at the moment. Ideally, Craft comes back for one of those spots and then we find an experienced guard in the portal. If we don’t bring anyone in from the portal, we will be fine too. Just thinking big for Suder’s last year and what we need to beat Akron and win a game or two in the dance.

All this transfer/ NIL crap reminds me of the line:…rearranging the deck chairs on The Titanic.

I’ve had two friends who were “sports agents.” Fortunately, they were principled and tried their best to do what was in their players’ and coaches’ interests (yes, one of them represented a couple of coaches…in basketball) even if the agents left some money on the table. Which makes me wonder how posters here feel about sports agents and their integrity…Thoughts.

 This is the one I was referring to the other day. :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Had a bad feeling when I saw he posted something on social media about signing with an NIL management company.

Wow terrible news on Reece. I was really hoping he would be back as I thought he was really coming on as the year went on

Let’s hope Tyler Robbins is as good as advertised.

This NIL crap just sux

You thought that, because that’s exactly what was happening. Reece was so much better in the final 5-10 games.

I’m not sure how much of this is NIL, although I’m sure it’s a factor. Facts are we were a good team with 0 contributing seniors and 5 freshman coming in.

Potter probably wasn’t gonna start and he’s going to be a junior. He can start on a lot of teams at MAC level or lower or come off bench at slightly higher level which is what he’d do here.

Similar for Cooper. Great defender but there’s a logjam at guard with Pete, Evan, Luke and the incoming class.

Potter certainly improved this year but his lack of defensive skills in the paint, poor rebounding and constantly playing with one hand were and are issues. He also has not learned how to use the glass for shooting inside. Woolfolk much greater upside. Also looking forward to Tyler Robbins arrival. Potter simply is not the physical player we need in the paint. Best of luck to him wherever he may end up.
