I can’t argue with WMU first. They are loaded again. It tells you how good our roster is that we finished 2nd in this poll, and the only other team with first place votes, and we don’t even have a declared starting QB yet.

I watched WMU completely dismantle a decent Kennesaw State team a week after they beat us last fall. The Broncos were a solid, well-cosched team with a lot of parts returning.
Top teams consistently in the MAC are WMU, Toledo, and Miami. It isn’t too hard to tell what schools are emphasizing and putting resources into athletics in the MAC and which teams aren’t, and also which particular sports each MAC school is emphasizing with their dollars. Very few are emphasizing across the board. I would like to think Miami is one of those very few.

We have a similar amount of returning production to WMU but our portal class looks a lot better. I like our odds. Also the MAC clearly forbids back to back winners

This guys interview is more entertaining than the whole media day. That was the most low energy production I’ve ever seen
Chuck admits the OOC schedule is like the NFL preseason.
He’s certainly treated it like that throughout his tenor here. I guess it’s nice to hear him basically admit it. For us OGs, the era of the “scalp” seems like a lifetime ago.
But yeah, that said, it’s great to be fighting for the Mac title year in and out. I can’t complain. Although it would be nice to see us go all out against a big conference team like it matters. I can think of several times over the years where we were putting in backups and running a conservative offense when the game was still technically in doubt.

2023 was fun, but it feels we rarely aim higher than 7-5 and a chance at a MAC title. And I get it; many teams in our conference would love to be in this position, but it would be nice to have some national relevance every so often, especially after what hoops just pulled off.

A couple things i thought
1- I love Chuck Martin press conferences because he is so honest but going on the MAC media day tour and talking about hoping to elevate out of the MAC is amazing
2- I was discouraged about how far off we still are in resources. The article over the winter seemed like we were competing better
3- I wasnt as mad about his comments about the QB. It seemed like we have narrowed from 3 to 2
4- I listened to Steinbrechers comments and yikes. There was no mention of tv partners or bowl partners and he said he loved that the MaC was creative when asked about tv. So are we gonna play Saturday 9am games in the future?
5- I cant believe that Miamis website still has the same 529 commercial before every video. I may go insane if I have to watch it again. I probably have seen it 500 times

Steinbrecher to me has always been a commissioner who is fine coasting, and not really doing anything to make waves, or significantly advance the MAC. In other words, I am not, and have never been, a fan of his.
