You never know from one week to the next…
I didn’t want to say anything for fear of getting pounced on but I said to another 1987 Miami grad right after the game ended, my wife Dana, that to me it felt like we didn’t even have a bowl game.
Watching the beginning of the Ventures game in Mobile they talked about the perfect weather the last few days and a kick off temp of 70 degrees with dry conditions…sure made me jealous and regretful of the weather mess we had to play in…
Even if we had won the game, I’d have felt bad for the players. Yes, a win certainly would have helped, but that game in those conditions wasn’t much of a reward for an incredible season.
In addition to the miserable weather, the pregame event was pretty substandard. They charged Miami alums $60 and App State people $85 and dumped all of us into the same fenced off area.
The single food line was 45 minutes long and they ran out of food at 1 pm. They had to run out for chicken strips and hot dogs. The three drink lines were 30 minutes long and for the last 90 minutes you had to stand in line in the rain. The Miami contingent was crammed into a relatively small tent. I could never find a seat inside it.
The Alumni pregame event at Ford Field was $35 and awesome!
52-3 USA with about 5 and a half minutes still remaining in the 3rd.
1st downs
USA 23
EMU 2
Total yards
USA 482
EMU 55
This is beyond bad.
EMU should have lost one of their last two games - Akron in 2 OT - or Buffalo on purpose to make certain they weren’t bowl eligible.
See my post 3 hours ago…EMU had the look of an overmatched team from the “get go”. It was apparent in the first possession that their defense didn’t have the speed nor skill (in tackling) to keep up with S. Alabama.
Strangely, USA lost at home to non bowl eligible CMU
So the Eagles go out to Husky Stadium next September. Probably don’t need to pack the Jolly Roger!
EMU player sucker punched a USA player while they were singing their alma mater post game starting a brawl. One potential knock against Creighton in terms of moving up to a better position is a lack of discipline. Their QB was ejected in the 2019 Quick Lane Bowl for punching opposing players too.
Yep. That’s the good old EMU I remember……
I love how the guy throws the punch then crawls away with his hands covering his head in fear and terror while getting pummeled.
If that EMU player has any eligibility left, it should be revoked.
How embarrassing for the MAC! Get your asses kicked 59-3 in a nationally televised bowl game and then start this kind of shit. Steinbrecher needs to step in on this one.
Ironically, Hammock started actively getting his NIU players to one corner of the field as the clock ran down. He didn’t even let the ice bath stop him
I saw that. He was very cautious. Players pick up on a coach’s demeanor. Butch Jones was an angry asshole at the end of that game. Hammock knew A-State was likely to start some crap. Good job by the NIU coaching staff!
Well NIU and Arkansas State had a pregame argument too
Yep. For some reason it was chippy from the warmups on. Maybe something happened at the bowling alley. They mentioned the teams did do separate Karaoke nights.
Or maybe it’s just Butch the jerk shining through. I had my fill of him when he was at CMU and UC!
Is that the same guy who grabbed and held onto a USA face mask for about 20 minutes?
BG scores against Row the Boat in three plays. 7-0 Falcons.
