Ivan Pace Transfer Portal

Miami of California does not have a good ring to it. Let’s stay here.

The Buffalo Run Casino is an interesting place.

I live in California and it’s not a bad way to go.

If you don’t agree it is easier to leave a program that has lost multiple games it should be winning then you are kidding yourself. Obviously NIL is at play, but when you’re playing on an overall underperforming team, and everyone here throwing darts has laid part of that at Chuck’s feet, it creates instability. I cede nothing to that man. I am glad we won the bowl. But that does not erase the slate. Ultimately more people stay where they are confident in the leadership. When people have doubts they are more susceptible to a siren’s song and walking away. Chuck needs to start a new streak and re-establish the brand.

Phelps gets an offer from mighty 2-10 Kansas.

With the season Pace had he was leaving for UC even if Miami went undefeated. All you’re saying is you were shown how every G5 program has some star transferring and said nope, we’re unique. Pace was gone. Losing just Phelps outside of that as someone with regular playing time is pretty impressive. That’s well below the average each year for a G5 school.

So again, if we’re retaining at a higher rate than other teams, and it’s Chuck’s fault, then you’re just complimenting him.

After they stopped serving as the NYY farm club.

I highly recommend Waylan’s Hamburgers, home of the Ku-Ku burger.

I called Pace’s transfer a month ago in MHT and got blasted a bit for rumor mongering and asked admin to take it down based on the responses. Thankfully they did. My source was family on fb scholarship at UC sitting shoulder to xhoulder on the couch. It was a done deal back middle to end of November and a bunch of UC players knew it.
Between NIL and transfer portal football at places like Miami the way we have historically known it might well be done. Everytime sme freshman or sophmore makes All Mac fair chance they go. In 10 years and maybe less college football as we know it will be drastically different.

I think you’re absolutely correct about the radical transformation. Recruits will use G5 commitments as a foot in the door to FBS football. If they make all conference at their G5 school they’ll probably move to a P5 program. If you build a solid G5 roster and have some success you’re going to lose it as quickly as you built it. If you win on a recruit you lose him to NIL and the portal. It’s going to make for a frustrating future for fans of G5 football programs.

How would you like to the head coach in this NIL, portal hell. What are the expectiations?

That’s what the grossly bloated coaching salaries are for, I guess

As a bookend to the above, I read the Enquirer’s report on yesterday’s game. Reading Pace JR’s comment that (I don’t recall the exact wording, and I’m not in a mood to look it up) - “that was my team. I practiced with those guys for 3 years…”

You know what, that was not YOUR team, Ivan. That was Miami University’s team, and you were very fortunate to be part of it. As for “practicing” with “your team,” does this imply that MU is some kind of practice squad that you get to hang out with until you are able to actually go play?

I know - this is crying over spilt milk to a degree. The transfer portal is what it is. We all love the talent when it is ours, and it can easily be argued that we’d all make the move if the League were out there for our taking. Regardless, I like the old days. Sit the hell out a year if you lack the allegiance to “your old team.”

Idk. Ask Chris Creighton who just beat Arizona State in Tempe at an NIL/transfer magnet school like Eastern Michigan. Other programs without lucrative NIL prospects and in off the beaten path campuses are having considerably more success than Miami. App State, Marshall, Western Kentucky, James Madison and Coastal Carolina come to mind.

You are hanging on 20 something words, Pace was just saying those are his guys…yeah he’s got new ones now, but respect.

He was tapping guys like Kevin Davis and Mozzee, OL after plays…

Thx for reality check on that on @Skins . Good to hear. Still not a fan of the portal.

No worries…it’s rough…add in Brett out, Chuck what he is…frustration is high.

But Pace is not pouring anything on.

Pace didn’t show me that he was lording anything over Miami…he is a great player. Ideally, his bro should have “portaled” his way up to Oxford, not the other way around…but his brother, being younger, obviously wanted the city vibe of UC after Ivan lines on on Sundays.

I was worried Pace would be an asshole, just because he was an asshole to all our opponents and made bonehead personal foul penalties after plays all the time, but I thought he played his ass off (per usual), and showed much respect to our guys.
