Ivan Pace and Lonnie Phelps to Transfer

Pretty sure Schott was kicked off the team for that little fraternity beating incident from a year or two ago?

Are you sure? I thought was 2020 and I remember some of the names. Seems weird he would play 2021 and we would recruit his brother if that was the case

I thought it was one of the schott kids, maybe not. I think it was 2021, when kids were back on campus, so maybe makes sense then that his brother decommitted (right?)

It was fall 2020. Bomba, who is now at Indiana, was charged with the most severe actions, including criminal assault. Mitsopolous was the second most severely charged and the least serious charges were leveled against TJ Rush. Last I knew Mitsopolous was playing at a JC somewhere in Texas. Rush was allowed to rejoin the team and was on our roster this season. Schott was not involved, or at least not charged with anything.

Update: Mitsopolous played last fall for Trinity Valley CC in Athens, Tx. As of December he had received D2 offers from Charleston (WV), Ohio Dominican and Shippensburg.

This morning 24/7 shows Lonnie Phelps has transferred to Kansas. Anybody verify this? If so Kansas just got better.

My understanding was he, Lonnie Phelps, was taking a visit but had not yet committed to Kansas.

One of the things I haven’t seen discussed much regarding the transfers, is how it will impact Miami, and other “feeder schools” financially. We have benefitted in the recent past from players we sent to the NFL giving back monetarily to Miami. Ben and the indoor field and Brandon Brooks and the OL room to give just 2 examples. With transfers, how likely do you think it will be that Phelps, Pace as 2 examples, if they make it to the NFL will thank Miami in this way? The school that in at least some not minor way, developed them from 2 star recruits, to “the big time”. Yes, we will have some players stick with us, like Dom Robiinson and Jack Sorenson, who both may play on Sundays. But I have to think over the long haul, Miami is going to see less “NFL money” than we have in the past.

I’m actually a little surprised at the lack of offers for Phelps. Unless he just isn’t tweeting some of them, he only has offers from Kansas and Tulane. Kansas is headed in the right direction with Leipold, but that’s still a bottom level P5 program coming off a 2 win season. I have to think Phelps was hoping for better

There was a time before NIL that I thought we should beat Kansas on recruits.

I remember hearing something about Lonnie and Texas- at this point I hope it is Kansas cause I dont want UC involved

Well…I think he’s looking for a challenge…where he is also guaranteed to start.

If it’s Kansas…I bet they improve next year…maybe they are 4-8, 5-7…not much different than 6-6, 7-6 in the MAC, in that in B12, he goes against better competition in most games.

So even if it is Kansas, makes sense…as a former MAC coach is in charge and likely many ex-UB players.

Kansas schedule next year:

Nescacdad, surprised the Maynard kid didn’t get at least a PWO offer from BallState.

Yep. His Dad’s alma mater. Smells of some bad blood.

I look forward to Caleb Schaeffer pancake blocking Pace this year!

I’m no expert on anything in this world, especially football, but I was watching the bowl game with some company who are big Oklahoma fans and they all remarked that he looked like a potential pro. I feel the same way. He’s raw, but absolutely one of the best prospects we’ve had in a long time.

Our O-line knows how to block you (Ivan). You have already been scouted by our scout team. Good luck against us this year Ivan. We will miss you, but you will miss us more after THE GAME.

He has the find “the ball all the time” mind.
Edit: Reference was to Pace (I just noticed discussion was off topic.)

Huh?

I think he’s referring to Ivan or Lonnie, likely Ivan as a pro prospect.

We were talking about Schaefer. Sorry, was off topic.

Got it…Schaffer as a prospect…good base, upper body does not seem like it’s there…

Think Sam Vaughan is our best OL prospect…but also like how Feth plays, as well as Caleb.
