Very astute hire! Looking at those ERAs and the number of double digit losses apparently jumped right up when Coach Smiley looked at his new team. Pitching has been completely dominant the further we’ve gone into the playoffs and the CWS this season. Several 5-4, 3-2 and perhaps even a 2-1 extra inning game down the stretch. Pitching is 80% of winning baseball.

What is encouraging about the hires that Smiley has made is they are coming from successful programs and are not coaches who were out of work and looking for jobs.
They are not necessarily moving up as far as job responsibilities either. Basically lateral moves in that respect.
That indicates they have a lot of respect and confidence in Smiley and also see the opportunities for Miami to be successful.
I like what I see.
