Not probably

Tracy is the one that pains me the most. He could do anything.

  1. I fully support the decisions made by Virgil, Tracy and Strader. Just don’t fully agree with one of their justifications. But fully support the move.
  2. Who says I am white? Or prosperous? That’s a bit of an overgeneralization bordering on offensive. And I suppose old is up for interpretation.

That is what signing day is for. And now the portal. We got Cade from the portal. That turned out pretty well. At this point, we trust the coaches, trust the system, let the smoke clear and see who is left, and who we added. Have I said I hate this new system. But bitching isn’t going to change it.

I liked this day last year far more than this year.

It was more that he only attempted, I think, 8 FGs all year this year.

I hate that the kids do the thank you posts on social media before they even have the next team lined up ( or at least it seems that they don’t). Isn’t just being added to the portal enough to let those who make the decisions (and I’m sure their “investors”) know they are open to transfer? Why broadcast, and then what if you don’t find the right fit, you go crawling back on your knees to your coach, or drop down to another division. Ugh, I’m becoming a grouchy old woman :joy:, I prefer the old days where there were amateur student-athletes!

Great and interesting points and discussion on this site re the portal. The bottom line is what is best for the individual. While a greater number of athletes get drafted at higher rated schools how much playing time do they get if they transfer , what value do they place on a Miami degree, what value do they place on their relationship with the coaching staff and perhaps many other factors. These decisions should only be made with careful thought and based on good advice. I would hope our coaching staff , our AD and others at Miami try to convince Virgil, Tracy and Strader to stay and to tell them if they transfer and it does not work out to come back.

Googled “What percentage of college football players wind up in the NFL?”

Only 1.6% of college football players make it to the NFL. The ratio of college football players who get drafted varies by conference and position, but it’s generally a difficult transition.

Even for those who are drafted, only 30% make it onto an NFL roster. Competition for roster spots is fierce.

Tried to see what the odds are for Group of Five schools but no luck. No doubt much lower yet again. As if 1.6% isn’t low enough.

These kids chasin’ their dream is an f’in dream. Dumber than a bucket of rocks. Some of them are going to make a few bucks, chase that dream at two or three schools and wind up with no diploma. I’d have a ton more of respect for the kid that’s not playing that “portals” because he just wants to find somewhere where he’s going to have a chance to get on the field at whatever level that may be.

I don’t think Hardrick was even on our two deep at the end of the year.

Could have been hurt though.

Yeah…

No he played in the MACC game

Schlater is a true freshman who saw that the guy ahead of him was a R-SO and he wasn’t going to play. Before the portal he would just be a guy who quietly transferred down a level and nobody noticed. A player at his level making an announcement on social media is silly.

It’s pretty much all silly now!

Basically, if I’m hearing you right, Booty is dare I say “ass” and that’s why he’s going from Oklahoma to Monroe to now the portal. The portal’s a funny thing. Sometimes, it’s a down escalator. Oh well. He’s probably set for life anyways seeing as how many rap songs use his last name in their lyrics. He’s getting bank!
