We lost the best 3 underclassmen. I hate this week
Raion Strader has offers from Wisconsin, Cincinnati (gross), WVU, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, and Iowa State
Huge bummer. Losing the best players.
As I said, it’s unrealistic to expect to keep any impact player with 1-2 years of eligibility left. This is college football now. Brett only stayed due to the injury questions
Yes sucks but this CFB today. Few if any have a NFL future.
That is really funny on #60 because I actually noticed him on the sidelines and said to my daughter how is that guy #60 he weighs 150 pounds
True about Brett but not true about Salopeck- Ugwu- McDonald- Hilton- Suttle- Wise last year
I was hoping Javon would stay to play with his brother, but all along, I projected Virgil, Tracy, Sanders, Blakey as those most likely to portal, and those, quite frankly, that would matter to Miami if they left. So Javon is not a total surprise.
As I said in my long post above early today, I think these players are wrong on “I have to go P5 to play in the NFL.” Yes, percentages are better to be drafted if P5, but there are a hell of a lot of players in the NFL who played mid major or lower. If you have the talent, the NFL will find you. So when I see “moving on to make my dreams in NFL a reality”, I shake my head. I understand why they are saying it, I just think it is wrong.
Javon and Kenny’s older brother Tyrone is the starting RB for the Giants as a rookie after transferring from Iowa to Purdue a few years ago, Wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up there with the RB coach connection.
Edit - nevermind, forgot Purdue may have an entirely new coaching staff.
I’d argue percentages are only higher in the P4 because there’s more talent there and that if you have the talent in the g5 you are more likely to get drafted because you can easily show it off compared to the P4. Who’s to say a player like Fannin has anywhere close to the stats if he’s in the P4 on a team with a lot more offensive weapons
Could be. Although they are potentially going to have a whole new staff with their new HC they just hired
This.
I get a kick out of a bunch of prosperous old white guys sitting around passing judgment about the decisions of 18 year old kids, most of whom have valid reasons to think they can play up. Not to mention an opportunity to get the type of money they and their families rarely see. But we know better because Amos and Gage followed a dream and didn’t get a lot of PT.
Colorado State 's top LB, and two starting wide outs are also in the portal. FWIW.
Take a look at last year’s portal and see how many of those 18 year olds with big dreams didn’t find a new place to play and perhaps lost a scholarship and/or a chance to play football at the level they were originally playing. To a great extent, the portal is fools gold for most kids.
The bigger issue the agents influencing these decisions simply to make a quick buck with NIL rather than having the players best career interests at mind
The Nicholson Rule? ![]()
Nicholson started on a team that was in the running for the playoff - i would say his decision makes more sense then some of them.
But regardless if it is good for them or not I am 100% concerned about what is good for Miami. I am not rooting for guys to leave Miami whether it makes sense or not. I dont watch a Vikings game and say “oh great Ivan Pace made 9 tackles”. I only care about whats best for Miami
We had probably the best wide receiver room in the conference. Now they’re all gone. We have to bring in experienced receivers.
