Football portal 2024/25

Well, Georgetown College is a nice little school, and has some good football traditions.

The captain of our Centerville team played there - class of 67 at C’ville. Way before the Elks became a power…

They have been in 7 NAIA football championship games since the early 90’s, with 3 national titles. They were Mid South Conference champs in 2023 and 2024.

Will be at BUGS this year

He has 2 years of eligibility remaining. He also has an excellent W-L record as a P4 QB. This is the second straight QB that BG has picked up with a lot of P% experience and 2 years of eligibility remaining. As long as guys like this are available, this also seems like a quicker path to take for success than developing your own QB’s out of high school.

“He has 2 years of eligibility remaining.”

This guy could be playing NCAA ball til he’s 26.

Very clearly going for the coveted NCAA George Blanda Award…
(For comparison’s sake, Pats QB Drake Maye entered his 1st year of NFL ball at 22)

How can he have two years of eligibility if he is a 6th year senior?

He actually will be a 7th year senior if he sticks it out.

The grass really isn’t greener on the other side is it? Unless, of course, all you want is a paycheck. Spent last two years riding the pine. Guy’s probably never going to get a degree in anything. A shame…another portal/NIL victim I guess.

It’s anyone’s guess but, aside from the small percentage of portalees who eventually get to play on Sunday for an even bigger check than they received in college, I think many of these kids will some day regret not staying put and enjoying all of the cool aspects of college in a singular location—actually playing, getting a degree and making life-long friendships…

The grass may look greener but looks can be deceiving.

Don’t think he ever officially committed to UW just offered

We’ll have to go to the judges:

Amos initially entered the portal on Dec. 26. He thought he’d be going to Washington. He committed there on Jan. 11, in fact. But that pledge came one day before Alabama announced it had hired Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer.

“It was lot,” Amos told 247Sports of DeBoer’s departure. “Once that happened, I had to open my options back up. By then time was kind of short.”

I’m guessing just one year of eligibility left?

I feel bad for the kid. It sure seems like whatever family member is advising him is doing an awful job.

I mean…I’d welcome him back to the Miami backfield

Sad/not sad deal is, we have way better talent now. We have The Burner returning, some awesome young kids in the system already, and a stud from u of Louisville coming in. Amos could have been famous, but greed kills need. I wish him well though. What a joy he was while he was here.

Yes, the main driver of the Amos insanity is a key family member - sad story of a kid that finally found the coaching staff that understood his unique personality - he required a customized approach that fit his mental makeup - but then it just became a chase for bucks and the supposed big time.

That’s the thing - at big power programs Rashad is just depth - just another dude - it took a program that saw the potential to put in the time and attention to develop his mental approach to the game.

With him, it was the first time in a long time where it was like “holy crap! We can run this team over.” He should have stayed. But had he stayed KD and Keyon wouldn’t have shined as bright. We are much deeper now.
