Interesting fact from the MAC board, starting from the 2022 recruiting class this is where the All-MAC players have been sourced from (players only counted once even if they were all-conference in multiple years):
P4 = 24
G5 = 5
FCS = 12
DII or Lower = 5
HS = 23
JUCO = 6

I’m curious what percentage of incoming players fall into each category. Obviously there are a lot of incoming HS, but I don’t see a lot of lateral G5 transfers coming in.

We have Henry. Excellent QB who at this point knows Chuck’s system inside out. He hasn’t gotten a chance to show his ability but I think he’s gonna surprise.

He played a bit vs CMU didn’t look that bad just always nice to have a QB competition. I know Kopp has potential too. There are just a lot of portal QBs that are good so it would be nice to get one. It would create buzz for next year
Henry is a lot better than Kopp. Gotkowski and Henry will via for starting role unless we sign a seasoned portal QB.

I am going to make a separate post about this, but I don’t think this is in any small part due to having had the brother of a 13 year NFL vet as our QB for the last 6 seasons. I think Brett deserves as much credit as anyone for the fact that his primary backups (Mayer and Smith) came in and won very big games for us, despite not being able to find their footing at other schools.
Our QB room hasn’t necessarily been the most talented room at Miami over Brett’s tenure. But it has always been the most prepared. The coaches deserve credit for that, but so does BG as the leader of that room.
