CM loves AV, so there’s that. I don’t see him coming back as a QB though. The portal is full of QBs with experience and the clock is ticking on most of them. We can likely get a good one in the portal. Wouldn’t bother me at all if he came back. I have tons of respect for him and what he brought to the team. I just don’t think he is a QB.

Best I can tell from what I have read on line, Payton did not get into any games w the Buffs this season. Nevertheless, he is considered the 23rd best OL potential in the portal (at least by one a account I saw).

Double edged sword of our players having success…lose some to the portal but then gain high quality players who see the success those leaving had.

Russell was a highly touted (4 star) player coming out of high school…also a basketball star. He suffered some kind of unknown injury prior to this season in Colorado, and spent the year recuperating. I saw a reference to a Head injury in one write up.

Completely agree. I’ve said a few times that I think he’d work as starting QB in a run-first option offense, you can see why he was recruited by the academies out of high school. But he doesn’t have the arm or pocket presence of an FBS/FCS starter, the offense got the job done with him in 2023 with a lot of help from Amos and the special teams. No disrespect to him since he’s a baller who did a lot for the team in his two seasons, but we need to aim higher in the portal.

Mount Kirkland, baby! What a beast!

I am already getting texts from my B10 grad buddies asking where Miami is getting all the NIL $$ to sign these former 4 star recruits.

Obviously, they don’t know about our very deep pockets - you and me. Lol

Quite the traveling man.

Read another on line article that said that Colorado had big expectations of Russell, but that injury curtailed his development. Pretty incredible that Chuck has picked off all these promising portal additions, already the likely reality of the Russell situation at CU was that Coach Prime either ran him off or told him he wasn’t going to see the field next season.

The second coming of John the Baptist running players off?!?!

IIRC, when Prime came in he did a lot of “housekeeping” with respect to the players he wanted (or not). Just guessing his aggressive approach hasn’t changed, although there were high expectations initially for Russell so who knows…maybe they are bummed to see him go.

Sounds like Caden Veltkamp to FAU. Bummer. Really would have been a huge get
