Football portal 2024/25

I’ve always wanted to go to a game in Lubbock just because it seems like the most “middle of nowhere” spot you can get for major college football.

I always felt the most batshit crazy locations trip would be catching a Thursday night New Mexico State game in Las Cruces and then hitting Lubbock for Texas Tech two days later.

But that is down the road, when I’m an old man and bored.

Sorry, Virgil and Jados.

TE from Iowa, he was meant to visit Maryland tomorrow, I guess we did a good job convincing him

Interesting in that when I looked Grant Leeper up on X I saw that he was followed by Jack Owens. He seems to have played some hoops in Indiana H.S. as well. Played for Indy Heat in AAU circuit. That is usually a sign of good athleticism.

That’s A LOT of depth!

“Between depth and development, Leeper struggled to see the field behind Erick All, Luke Lachey, Addison Ostrenga, Zach Ortwerth, Johnny Pascuzzi, Steven Stilianos, Hayden Large and others at the tight end position over the last two seasons.”

Only played one year of HS football, so with his height and athleticism (hoops player) may just need time to develop. Could be a good find for us!

We certainly are well stocked now at TE. Which is a good thing.

We lost Coldiron and Preston Daniel who got most of the playing time this year.

I think Connor Briggs is the only TE coming back who got any significant playing time at that position. Brian Shane is shown as participating in 7 games but I don’t remember seeing much of him.

We rarely throw to the TE so he better be able to block.

Seems to fit a perfect profile for Miami portal additions.

This true but really more of a product of injuries to our top receiving TE and/or injuries to our QB and the backup being Aveon.

And our whole offensive scheme

I think our offense is tight end friendly and we would be throwing to the tight end more but injuries and the impact of injuries have derailed that over the last two years.

So with Coldiron injured and Muersch leaving none of the other five tight ends can catch?

85 and 4 are not fast enough or athletic enough to get open. The other three are too small at this point

Since Ryan Smith’s Junior and Senior seasons in 2016 and 2017 we haven’t had a TE catch more than 25 passes or eclipse 300 yds in a season.

TEs do not play a big part in Miami’s passing offense. I’d love to see that change, but I doubt it will.
