My interactions with UC fans leads me to believe he isn’t an option there. They hate him. They use very colorful adjectives before they write his name. Even if offered the job, he would be crazy to take it because the vitriol would start in the first minute, like a whole fandom of Theman2 rooting against you.

I go back and forth on Steele staying or not. You could make decent arguments each way. On one hand, you have a fiercely competitive guy who wants to prove himself at the highest level. This is the part that concerns me about him leaving.
OTOH, you have the intangibles of his family’s deep Cincinnati connections, and the financial security he already has. I also think there has to be some pride on his part as to what he has done for our previously moribund program. The winning, the crowds, the alumni support, the new Arena, and the incredible place and campus that is Miami. I know how I loved Miami the minute I set foot on it in basketball camp in 8th grade, and just maybe Travis feels the same way.
So, there you have it. Now, if the money right (for Steele, his assistants, and the NIL support, not to mention a cool new Arena) , do we have a shot? I am hoping yes!
If Miami is willing to to take on debt of ~$150M for the arena, I suspect Travis has been given or will be given what he asks for to deliver on this bet being made.

Decker in his 700WLW interview the other day mentioned several big money donors in Chicago that have been instrumental. He didn’t mention names, just said that.

I don’t expect Niccol to solve Miami’s athletic funding woes, but man is it nice to have an uber rich alum who loves Miami sports as much as we all do.
