Finn is no longer on the team

Not really, but that’s imho.

Have written about my great nephew who was full ride lineman at Ohio U. The qb went to Indiana and made a killing as IU last season came out of nowhere. IU glad to pay him.

His other teammate that took NIL money was a tight end that went to (I think) Oklahoma State. He got hurt early on and got screwed. No contract…no protection. Maybe took advantage of young kid that didn’t know any better or maybe they just don’t offer them. In any case was told he got a small fraction of the $250,000 that was in his deal. Quit paying soon as he was hurt and then beat out. Think he dropped out after 1st semester.

For the unaware out there chasing a buck it’s a wild west out there.

Would bet if DQ had no contract whatever else we owed him we didn’t/won’t pay.

We open as 3.5 point dogs.

We opened as 3.5 favorites and then the DQ news broke

If Miami never says anything will you tell us

Ball State just got trounced by a not good EMU team. I really believe we can still make Detroit if we get the help we need from OU and Toledo winning out.

Ball St and Buffalo are vulnerable and very mediocre MAC teams. Even a bad QB performance by Hesson can have us in these games.

Sure

We don’t need any more bad QB performances!

I get what you’re saying, but we are also a very mediocre MAC team……

My guess is DQ hasn’t a won’t learn a damn thing from this. He probably thinks he did the correct thing.

You know it’s bad when people are sending me stuff like this.

If you are expecting an athletic department that can’t even figure out how to get their computerized tickets sales to work properly, to be able to competently manage this with some modicum of damage control, that should have happened from the start, your expectations are way to high!

And absent some contractual reason for him not to say this, the first words out of Chuck’s mouth should have been “Some people choose to prioritize the team and the greater good. Dequan Finn is not one of those players.”

It’ll be “interesting” to see what this man makes with the rest of his life….as my eyes tell me it won’t be in the NFL. That being said, I hope he has learned something worthwhile thru this entire process.

Yeah he learned “take the money and run”.

So. He just decided to quit on the team. Not much of a surprise. I will always remember him in that hideous Bearcat Black uniform he never wore into battle for us.

There has to be more than this. You dont screw 105 teammates or your players over one argument. Plus this means Miami lied to espn and us about his status. I refuse to believe the season went in the toilet over one argument. Somebody has to be a bigger man

Maybe.

Quitting on your team is one of the worst things an athlete can to. The reaction to the story has been pretty unambiguously negative towards Finn from the general public, not just Miami fans.

Chuck coming out instead and calling him an asshole might have felt good but would have been useless at best and negative at worst if it blew up into a big story over which side was right that would have been a distraction for the team. I think being polite and brief and letting everyone read between the obvious lines was a pretty smart approach to take.
