Finn is no longer on the team

One thing these situations do have in common is they both resulted in HH QB’ing for Miami in a nationally televised game.

Your exact words were:

the first words out of Chuck’s mouth should have been “Some people choose to prioritize the team and the greater good. Dequan Finn is not one of those players.”

My point is that the emotional satisfaction of criticizing Finn is not worth it. I don’t view a meaningful difference between what you said and my summarization of calling him an asshole to discredit my point.

Probably about run our course on this discussion, but for whats it worth, the Toledo Blade had an article about Finn/the MAC but nothing new other than Finn did not comment.

As MACtion hits full boil, I’m not sure what’s harder to untangle: Miami coach Chuck Martin’s spin on star quarterback Dequan Finn vanishing in the middle of a conference championship race, or the five-way traffic jam for second place.

Either way, chaos reigns.

And we’re here for it — at least on the field.

The Finn saga is just unfortunate.

You might know the broad strokes.

A college career that began at Toledo — where he played five seasons and won Mid-American Conference player of the year in 2023 — and continued at Baylor before boomeranging back to the MAC has come to a regrettable end.

Finn was a surprise scratch from Wednesday’s big Toledo-Miami game, absent from both the lineup and stadium with what Martin afterward called an “illness.” By Friday, we learned he’s no longer with the program.

One week, Finn was flying as high as the RedHawks — perched alone atop the MAC — fresh off passing for 260 yards in a win over Western Michigan. The next, he was gone.

The news was as sudden as it was stunning, raising the obvious questions: Did Finn really just walk away from his teammates midseason? Did behind-the-scenes drama quietly push him out? What’s the REAL story?

“Dequan’s moving on,” Martin said Friday. “We had 11 good months with him. Dequan did some awesome things. He’s an awesome young man. We spent a lot of time together. At this point, he’s going to move on. He’s going to get ready … He’s got a shot to go play at the next level. He’s going to train and get ready to go do that. We appreciate what he did for us and we wish him the best. We will not see him the rest of the year.”

Finn did not return a text from The Blade.

I think Sluka also left after three games to preserve a year of eligibility in the transfer portal.

He is now at James Madison.

Methinks it will.

Just followed Midnight Blue and Gold Launchpad where I find my podcasts.

Feel free to keep up twisting my words. Maybe you also find other posts of mine you take issue with or stick in your craw. I am not discrediting your post. I am standing firm that at no time did I call Finn an “asshole” nor did I say CM should call him an “asshole”. I don’t appreciate my words being twisted. Trust me if I meant to say asshole I would . Have a nice evening.

Dequan is an asshole. A stupid asshole to boot. There, it’s settled.

University Of Miami.

Chuckle.

This is a weird fixation to have on a specific word. I can only assume that “asshole” is somehow a uniquely offensive word to you that you find it materially different from your post, and that I must have been upset or offended by your post. To me, it’s simply not and I wasn’t, I just didn’t think it was the correct PR approach to take.

Don’t delete your posts…it ruins the show. Especially when it’s stuff like that.

Didn’t the old site autochange the word asshole to Marshall Head Football Coach Bob Pruett?

Aveon is an outstanding young man that gave all he could to Miami football. Every teammate loved him. CM loved him like a son. He wanted a chance to play and left. I would never hold that against him and I think what he was able to accomplish here was nothing short of amazing.

I’ll go one extra step: it’s comparing a winner to a loser.
