We have had success with P4 guys who had little to no playing time at their previous stops.
Some that come to mind:

Ty Wise
Brian Uguw
Cade McDonald
Jackson Kuwatch
Corey Suttle
Keyon Mozee
Not that it’s automatic. Some of the guys who transfer down weren’t getting playing time for a reason, but the list above is guys who were starters at a minimum and all league in some cases for us.
Neither were high recruits? Not sure what you’re talking about. Witten was rated as a top 30 TE and Armstrong as a top interior lineman (nationally). I think the OL is completely up in the air unless one has insider knowledge. Probably the most depth Miami has ever had at multiple position groups, including o-line and LB.
Armstrong offered by Georgia, Florida, Michigan, PSU, and 17 other schools. Come on…

This may have already been mentioned but Josh Ringer has been switched from RB to DB. Probably not a bad idea, as he wasn’t likely to see a lot of action at RB and honestly, didn’t produce at RB last year when given a chance. Speaking of RB, a guy I want to throw out there that isn’t getting much attention is the RB transfer from NIU, Lazaro Rogers. He is a pretty good back.
Rogers has certainly flown under the radar, good call. I feel very good about the RB room
Ringer was our best (only?) blocking RB for pass pro. For a few others, the M on the helmet stood for Matador. Ole!

I will be a very happy guy when it is reported AND I see for myself that our O line is deep and talented so that our probably good running backs can make it out of the backfield.
Exactly. RB can only produce if the OL are making some room for them to run. At times last year, our OL seemed like it was not physical enough. Hopefully that is corrected and we see the results at Pitt.

OL has been a major problem. I wonder about the coaching in this area- also are we making things too complicated in our play calling? The bottom line is that we have had offensive game plan issues for years and a HC who is too involved in the offense . What Martin will never understand is that our program could be even more successful if we had an competent independent OC.

Mikah Coleman was the second to last guy DE mentioned by Chuck in his position preview. And while it is hard to take anything from these previews, literally the only thing he said about Coleman is “he came from Cincinnati” before mentioning how hard it’s going to be for some guys to see the field (“We have 7 DE’s fighting for 2 spots”).
Maybe he just didn’t project to see enough snaps?
Is this just a rumor or has it been verified that Coleman left the program?
