I was going through some old keepsakes and found my copy of the Cradle of Coaches. I am really enjoying reading it again. So many of the men in the book did so much to build what Miami was and is. Love and Honor! I looked on Amazon and the book is expensive and hard to come by.
I still have my copy proudly place in my study bookcase!
Likewise!
any chance miami does anything for mcvay day before August 26 rams are in Cincinnati on 26 of august
That certainly would be a good pr move!
As with John Harbaugh, most likely a statue unveiling and team(s)
both pro and college and family would attend. Off season. The Ravens rolled out quite a crowd from Baltimore.
At some point, Miami is going to induct a student who interned for a week into the Cradle of Coaches….Sean Payton should not be in the association
He was our QB Coach for two seasons. He went on to greatness. Although he didn’t play at Miami he certainly made a contribution to our success and Miami provided an incubator for some of that success. Woody was a Denison grad who only coached at Miami two season. I see no problem with Sean being a member.
I have always been of the mind that any Coach honored at the Cradle of Coaches Plaza should be a Miami grad. Not a Coach that happened to stop by Oxford a couple years.
So Martin can’t be considered since he is not a Miami grad ?
IMHO, you should draw the line somewhere…I could see an exception for a long standing HC specific to Miami like Martin. I just don’t like taking credit for a Coach that was barely here, so I would prefer them being a Miami graduate.
Better take Woody out, too, if that’s the case. And Dick Crum (Mount Union grad).
I was never in favor of having Woody in …again, it’s just my opinion, and I am not trying to convince anyone it’s the correct one. If someone considered for induction didn’t go to school here, I would have at least liked to have seen a godly portion of his Coaching legacy to be at Miami. Just my two cents worth (which isn’t much). I don’t stay up at night worrying about it.
This should clear it up. Looks like all head and assistant coaches are eligible regardless of whether they are Miami grads or not. I’m pretty certain Kirin Kumar will be enrolled in the Cradle a few years from now.
She should be.
2 years is a cup of coffee. No Payton, no Tressel, no Hayes.
Sadly, if it results in any significant donation from Payton it’s probably worth it
Agree.
I knew that graduating from Miami wasn’t currently required, Nescadad…I guess I am just not completely embracing the current eligibility requirements. That “ship has already sailed”, so my musings are just that and nothing more.
I’m curious. Anybody know why Sid Gilman isn’t a member of the Cradle of Coaches?
