Central Michigan men at Miami Saturday around 3:30 on ESPN+

Ok. Then UCI is about twice as expensive as those. (Their GA is cheap, their reserved isn’t.)

I saw that too. The dunk team is SUPPOSED to be fun and engaging. They had to engage people the entire time because barely anyone was without being prompted

Wait, students won’t show up to sit at mid court but will show up to sit behind the basket? How does that make sense?

Mid court has a better view of the game but if they want to have any real influence on the game they’d rather be right by the opposing team’s bench than 30 feet away from the court. Those seats also kill sound

Its because all they do at midcourt is sit so its lame and not fun. If we can get people behind the basket we can force them to stand and be engaged, creating a more fun experience getting people to return/bring their friends.

I don’t know. Sitting at midcourt watching grannie remove her dentures as she gums down a barely warm pretzel can be a thrilling experience for a college student!

In 1998-99 they had the large bleachers behind the basket, but also had extra seating (kind of like the small bleachers currently behind the basket) in the areas across the court from the teams seats. They also had smaller temporary bleacher sets in the side of the pep band. Lots more people were right on the floor.

Millett was electric for the game against Tennessee and great for almost every game that year. Part of that was a better stadium setup. Another part was the opponent. The biggest part is that we were REALLY good.

I’ve asked multiple times on this board if anyone knew why we ever went with our current setup and got rid of the bleachers behind the basket. I’ve never heard a response.

I’m sure some MAC schools complained about it and we changed it. In the early 2000s, we were in the red and white bleachers behind the north basket, the football team would be behind the south basket and there were dedicated groups of fans in the temp bleachers across from the benches. So the opponents heard it from all sides of the court.

If Miami is still doing what they did 20 years ago, ushers won’t let you stand up at mid-court because paying blue hairs get mad. Why put students there?
