Also the impression I get from Chuck is that any heated conversations are in pursuit of legitimate feedback to make the individual/team better. Kelly is just a d-bag who shirks accountability, also doesn’t help that the LSU WR room is probably a lot more prone to divas than the Miami sidelines.
I think when someone coaches hard but is doing it in service of making the player better, people recognize that. Chuck does this.
Kelly claims he does this as well, but he’s thrown his players under the bus so many times that I don’t think he gets the benefit of the doubt any more. Instead he’s just an asshole.
Chuck does not sugarcoat how he coaches. He is the same guy during recruiting that he is in the locker room, press conference and even grilling burgers at home . If a parent is surprised at how hard he is, that’s on them.
All this talk of ass got me thinking about an old artifact from a long deceased mall store. Remember Spencer Gifts? Real seedy place. You could buy adult novelty products like two person underwear called “fundies” and a bunch of tacky shit you’d never need for your dorm room. It was glorious. Anyhow, they used to sell this large wall mounted ass that ostensibly you’d put up like a deer mount. Thing looked like a pile of cottage cheese and craters. I wonder if there’s a pile of them in Rumpke dump after that chain closed. The archaeologists in 1,000 years will be curious as to who we were and make assumptions.
You will be pleased to know that Spencer’s is alive and well, still drawing in teenagers who dream of the day they will finally be able to enter the magical realm known only as the “adults only” section.
Woooah…this is extraordinary news! I wonder if they still sell that jiggly cottage cheese ass wall hanger. They had that dumb poster that used to show a mansion with 5 high end sports cars and a helipad that said “justification for higher education”. Just great shit.
As I recall, Brian Kelly disrespected Miami when he coached at UC, talking down the rivalry and hinting at ending it.
I’ll never forget nor forgive that.
