So did the girl that his players raped and then harassed into suicide. I remember hearing that he was involved in some sick sh!t at CMU too.
I think Brian Kelly Screaming would be a great band name.
“From their top 5 record Offsides, comes the hit single Scissorslift.”
Followed up by “from beantown, y’all”
Kelly is yelling and crying tonight. The #1 prospect, the QB from Belleville, MI has flipped from LSU to Michigan. It was reported that Michigan offered him $10.5M over four years.
Bet that thrills the faculty and staff of the university. An 18 year old kid probably making more than anybody employed by the university.
I hope this is the final straw that will see somebody stand up and simply say–enough!
The schools aren’t the ones spending the money (yet at least). If they were, 2.5 million annually for a QB isn’t even that crazy for a program making as much money Michigan when compared to the NFL. Where’s this anger about coaches who definitely are overpaid?
Yea, that’s the rationale. Some rich guy is paying for it. Maybe those funds could be better spent in the medical school research programs. Or to assist those students with crushing loans. But the guys with the bucks want to see NC. So, while it’s outrageous, it’s just the latest form of gladiators. But no one dies.
And I totally agree that coaches salaries are outrageous. No public school should pay the huge sums now being the going rate. A private school, fine. But to pay a coach high seven or eight figures is ridiculous. But again, someone will say that rich boosters may be paying much of the salary. So what! It’s still insulting to those who are employed by the college/university to do the work that is the mission of the school–teaching and preparing students for life after the degree. A big win may bring joy and happiness to the fans for a week or season. But a quality education is a lifetime benefit and the reason for going to any school.
From the 1993 movie “The Program”:
Regent Chairman : "This is not a football vocational school. It’s an institute for higher learning.
Coach Winters: “Yeah, but when was the last time 80,000 people showed up to watch a kid do a damn chemistry experiment?”
Going back to the thread, Kelly is gonna get 'd due to the QB leaving LSU for Michigan… And walk away with a cool $60M. Ah well… incompetence pays!
I had some friends at Miami who played under both Treadwell and Martin. They said they felt like outsiders because they weren’t his guys, but they all said how much he does care for his guys. I think Chuck’s loyalty has probably been the biggest complaint against him. Sticking with coaches for too long. Sticking with players for too long. At the end of the day, I think he runs a program students and alum can be proud of, even if it started off rocky.
But Brian Kelly can fall off a scissor lift for all I care.
