Kinda hoping for a B1G opponent, but playing Marshall would be fun.
Oh, and Myrtle Beach, SC sucks.

I like the slot on Monday, Dec 23 better than the Tuesday slot the previous week at Boca. Airfare to Boise and Tucson is really expensive this year.
The Miami web site says bowl game announcements will be made next Sunday, December 8. Doesnât leave much planning time if youâre in one of the earliest bowls. Earliest MAC bowl is the Camelia on December 14 in Montgomery. Boca is December 18.
I feel like the two teams that go to the MACC usually donât have to go back to Detroit for the bowl game either, so thatâs one location we can probably knock off the list.
Last year Chuck said âI just want warm weather.â
This year heâll probably at least secretly push for Arizona, so we get warm weather without a risk of a torrential downpour.
Plus he could also get in more of the available bowl game practices, which obviously was capped last year with the early bowl game date.
Not sure how much attendance even moves the needle in terms of choosing bowl participants in todayâs TV based world, but donât think we would take a lot of folks back to Detroit (again) vs. a Toledo or Michigan based MAC school (if any of 'em even get a bowl slotâŚmaybe winner of EMU-WMU??).
The 23rd in Myrtle might be a decent date and could possibly draw an interesting opponent based on some projections. Not always that warm in Myrtle that time of year.
Sports Illustrated before todayâs game had us in the Potato Bowl in Boise against San Jose State. That would be on the 23rd so more practice time but not exactly warm weather.
And itâs a Monday game so folks could do a weekend there. Hotels are plentiful and reasonable there in December.
Nescadad,
Have you been doing your synopsis of how many bowl eligible teams we are likely to have this year?
From previous posts made, it appears there may be a number of of 6-6 teams leftover, which would likely include the winner of EMU-WMU game. (sure glad we already have 8 wins and donât have to worry about that stuff!)
Quick follow up: while revisiting highlights of our game I saw the CBS bowl eligible teams update. 77 teams have qualified and it looks likely that another 7-8 will get eligible in their final game. So maybe 84-85 eligible for whatâŚ82 slots?? If so, likely the EMU-WMU winner will be one on the outside looking in.
Makes one wonder which MAC team will get tabbed to be in Detroit for the bowl game there. Toledo or BG would obviously be the only ones that would draw a decent number of fans, but could be Buffalo (I betcha given all the snow that city is getting this week that would NOT be their preferred destination), or NIU (although I could see them in Idaho).
As for us, as already noted by a poster previously, I wouldnât be surprised if Chuck would be pulling for the Snopp Dog Arizona Bowl vs. Mountain West opponent. Myrtle Beach Bowl vs. AAC or Sunbelt might also be an attractive match up and landing spot.
Coastal Carolina, North Texas, and Western Michigan all get their 6th win to become bowl eligible. Kansas and ULM donât get theirs.
The way NIU is playing they seem to be doing most everything possible to blow the game against CMUâŚif they lose (and finish 6-6) they may not even get a bowl slot if Detroit Bowl prefers a Michigan based MAC participant.
If you watch the videos taken on the field during the UM/OSU fight, you can hear one OSU player yell out âEnjoy the Bahamas Bowl.â
Does that count as a projection?
Getting to travel to the Bahamas and potentially getting an easy matchup after beating your arch rival who was ranked #2 in the nation sounds like a decent holiday plan to me
Bring back the frisco football classic for the extra teams!
Auburn, Michigan State, and Eastern Michigan also eliminated from bowl eligibility. Cincinnati trailing TCU.
NC State gets to 6 wins with a last minute win over Mack Brownâs Tar Heels.
I have a crazy idea but it could be super fun: what if you created a bowl game called 6x6 whereby four teams with mediocre or even sub mediocre records could combine rosters. So if you pick UNC, Western Michigan, EMU and Kansas, two teams pair up versus the other two teams and the coaching staffs have to work together to make the best lineup. I think it would help attendance and if you made the trophy stupid funny and gave the winning school a NIL payment or the like, people would watch.
